Golovin (1875, Moscow — 1944, Paris), a Russian general and military historian, was a pioneer in study of the war as a social phenomenon, which included analysis of the sociological and psychological aspects of soldiers and civilians. This work was the first comprehensive research of all aspects (manpower, supply, etc.) of the Russian efforts in the war available to the non-Russian readers. The influence of this book became evident in works such as Winston S. Churchill's account of operations on the Eastern front (1932). Robin D. S. Higham, Dennis E. Showalter "Researching World War One" (Greenwood Press, 2003). [Attributes: Soft Cover]
