This work was the first comprehensive research of all aspects (manpower, supply, etc.) of the Russian efforts in the war available to the non-Russian readers. The influence of this book became evident in works such as Winston S. Churchill's account of operations on the Eastern front (1932). Robin D. S. Higham, Dennis E.
