First published in 1655, President of Presidents sets forth the proposals of barrister and legal council to Oliver Cromwell and the Protectorate, William Sheppard (bap. 1595, d. 1674) to revise the judicial system of conveyances towards a more uniform model. Sheppard argues for standardising the laws surrounding land acquisition at a national level, thus eliminating complications arising from the varying uncertainties of local law practices regarding the securing property rights. The popularity of the work proved enduring, running through at least ten editions up to 1870. Wing S3209A. Size: 8vo [Attributes: Hard Cover]
