Contemporary Religious Satanism: A Critical Anthology edited by Jesper Aagaard Petersen, is an excellent study of modern Satanism. This is an academic study, with essays by 14 different scholars, dealing with a wide variety of themes, and looking into a very wide spectrum of Satanic orders and cults - from the well known (such as Church of Satan, Temple of Set, Order of Nine Angles, to the more obscure, such as the Order of Black Venus (in Estonia), Order of the Phosphorus, Order Illuminatorum (Norway), etc. (check out the photos of the Contents, which I have provided). There is also an excellent introduction by the editor, Jesper Aagaard Petersen, who has inscribed and signed this copy, on front free end sheet. Significantly, there is also a selection of primary documents, which make up part 3 of this anthology, and include Satanic texts by Vexen Crabtree, Stephen Flowers, Tani Jantsang, Nathan Wardinski and Ole Wolf. There is also an excellent index at the back. This is very rare material, and not easy to find. This is an excellent study, and would be of value to both collectors & academics, as well as serious students of Satanism, and followers of the Left Hand Path. This book is in mint in condition, with no writing or any other marking, other than the inscription by the editor. Don't miss out on this very rare and important book on … [Click Below for Full Description]

This book, titled The Book Of Going Back By Night, was one of the best kept secrets in the publishing world, from 2009. There is a long story connected with this book, as the original plans had been to release this through Hell Fire Books in 2010, and althought the 22 copies offered to select subscribers were paid for, and fully subscribed, the publication did not eventuate. Hell Fire had still failed to produce the books over a year after the agreed production period, although telling Orryelle otherwise, and he was forced to make a new arrangement with Ars Obscura, replacing the books Hell Fire had been paid for at his own expense. The 22 books finally did get published in 2011, and each of the subscribers received one of the very rare Ars Obscura copies. But, the plot thickens, as in 2012-2013, I did receive some information, that Hell-Fire Club, did actually produce, print and bind at least one of the 22 copies, that Hellfire had originally suggested they produce for Orrye … [Click Below for Full Description]

Bound by the artist in 1/4 black Hollander's imitation leather with brown cloth over Davey board: hand sewn simplified structure with sewing visible on smooth imitation leather spine, front panel with small original collage on front panel, housed in custom-made box of matching brown cloth which is decorated with small square fabric onlays in various shades of green, gold and tan, spine of Hollanders brown imitation leather spine. Hand-painted and hand lettered by the artist, Elizabeth McKee , the images are accomplished in gesso, Dr. Martin's Tech ink, iridescent pastel, and collage. The Oliver text is written with white gouache and a pointed pen, the Finnigan text with a pointed brush and sumi. Both texts appear on almost every page, furling and unfurling against a painted background of lovely pinks, greens, yellows and blacks, each page spread full of motion rolling forward and backward. The reader / viewer is swept up in the images and texts of the sea - along with the creatures that dwell therein. The artist states that the two center sheets of this book were painted in a Judy Melvin workshop in 2008. The other sheets were painted as the book developed. They include snippets of Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem, "I Am Waiting" - illegibly carved into the gesso throughout the book with the title Rebirth of Wonder taken from its refrain, "I am waiting for the rebirth of wonder". FitzGerald & Co., Vincent. Turner, Judith.
[New York: Vincent FitzGerald & Co., 2009. Portfolio of ten chromogenic prints on metallic paper, one of 20 copies only, each print numbered and initialed in pencil on the reverse by the photographer, Judith Turner, who has also signed her name on the colophon in pencil. Page size: 4-15/16 x 4-15/16 inches, 10 individual prints. Bound: loose as issued and housed in clear plastic box with front cover sliding out by Just Plastic. Titlepage / colophon page letterpress printed by Kelly-Winterton in black on gray paper. Judith Turner, noted New York photographer, took these haunting images over a period of six months. They were photographed under water, chronicling the life and death of a plant. Noted for her images of architecture, published in trade books since 1979, and by the private press, Vincent FitzGerald & Co., since 1990, she brings a solidity of shape and concreteness to the transitory water lily. The use of Kodak's silver paper for these images presents an illusive shimmer to the plant in water - suggesting the play of sunlight that would occur in the plant's natural habitat. Ms. Turner's photography is held by many institutions including the Canadian Center for Architecture, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Japan, Tel Aviv Museum, Tel Aviv, Israel, and the International Center for Photography and the Brooklyn Museum, among others. She has received numerous awards and grants including in 2007 a Star of Design Award in Photography by the Design Center of New York and in 1994 the American Institute of Architects Award.

SIGNED DATED 1st Print Wolf Hall Hilary Mantel 4th Estate 2009 UK H/B Booker The Blurb England, the 1520s. Henry VIII is on the throne, but has no heir. Cardinal Wolsey is his chief advisor, charged with securing the divorce the pope refuses to grant. Into this atmosphere of distrust and need comes Thomas Cromwell, first as Wolsey's clerk, and later his successor. Cromwell is a wholly original man: the son of a brutal blacksmith, a political genius, a briber, a charmer, a bully, a man with a delicate and deadly expertise in manipulating people and events. Ruthless in pursuit of his own interests, he is as ambitious in his wider politics as he is for himself. His reforming agenda is carried out in the grip of a self-interested parliament and a king who fluctuates between romantic passions and murderous rages. From one of our finest living writers, 'Wolf Hall' is that very rare thing: a truly great English novel, one that explores the intersection of individual psychology and wider politics. With a vast array of characters, and richly overflowing with incident, it peels back history to show us Tudor England as a half-made society, moulding itself with great passion, suffering and courage. The Book This is a Rare SIGNED & DATED 1st Printing of the 1st UK hardback edition published by 4th Estate in 2009. Hard to find in any condition. Won the Booker Prize that year. Signed and Dated by the Author to title page in her customary calligraphy. Dated 30 April 2009 - the publication date. An amazing example of the earliest signing of this rare book. Since he stirred up the art world establishment in the 1980s with his unapologetic basketball sculptures and stainless-steel toy blow-ups, Koons has been known as somewhat of a bad boy--a reputation he confirmed in the early 1990s via works depicting him having sex with then-wife Cicciolina, the Italian porn-star-cum-politician. But at the same time he charmed the art world with Puppy, a 40-foot-tall floral terrier that now resides at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. This is #0416 in an edition of 1100 copies (Includes Art Edition of 100 copies). The book is numbered and signed by Christopher Wool. The monograph was published in 2008 by TASCHEN. The book is in Fine/excellent condition as is the the custom clamshell case. From the publisher: "Best known for his text-based paintings including Trbl and Riot, Christopher Woolmade his name in the '80s and hasn't looked back, constantly expanding his repertoire of verbal possibility, patterns, and media. With more than 500 pages, this sizable monograph includes production Polaroids, installation shots, and impeccable artwork reproductions to document his upfront and ever-inquisitive oeuvre. In your face, achingly simple, deceptively frank, the work of Christopher Wool is so very New York. Though he owes a debt to Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art, he completely transcends these genres. Whether it's a text-based painting or an abstract spray-painted piece, Wool questions painting, like many other artists in his generation, but he doesn't provide any easy answers. As one piece proclaims, "The harder you look the harder you look." Wool became known in the mid-1980s through all-over paintings produced with rubber rollers commonly used to simulate decorative wallpaper patterns on walls. By 1988 he had hit stride with his dry, dead-pan word paintings ("Trbl," "Riot," "Sell the House, Sell the Car, Sell the Kids"), while c … [Click Below for Full Description]

Philip K. Dick
Philip K Dick's copy of The Big Eye by Max Ehrlich, from his apartment in Santa Ana, California. The book comes with provenance by Ray Torrence, a book dealer who was close friends with PKD and acquired a collection of his books after the passing of Joan Simpson, Dick's partner who died in 2009. I have reached out to a close friend of Ray Torrence, who has confirmed that the item is genuine and can provide further information/provenance on purchase (it would not be proper to post the correspondence online). I have bundled it in with three further books that are from Simpson's library with the accompanying provenance, which I was also told were from PKD's library but I unfortunately cannot prove this as there is no evidence other than the Simpson connection. Overall a simply wonderful collection.

Wiley in both volumes, with both prospectuses. The story that many consider to be the earliest novel written and a seminal work of Western literature, the tragi-comical figure of Don Quixote and his faithful companion Sancho Panza have become part of our culture, as has the phrase "tilting at windmills". First published in 1605, "Don Quixote" has been printed throughout the centuries; this magnificent edition by the Arion Press "stands as one of the major accomplishments of the Press" (n. b., from the Arion Press web site). Lavishly illustrated by William T. Wiley, who has exhibited at the Venice Biennial, the de Young Museum (San Francisco), and the Corcoran Gallery of Art (D.C.) - for this set, Wiley produced forty-two illustrations for volume I and fifty-five for volume II. The Edith Grossman translation is considered to be the unsurpassed version in English. The work required to produce this work must have been intensive; in his cover letter to subscribers, Andrew Hoyem wrote "Please be patient. Cervantes has had to wait over four hundred years for this treatment of and homage to his masterpiece. You will not have to wait that long." Accompanying this set are the prospectuses for both volumes ("Prospectus for a deluxe limited edition of Don Quixote..." and "Announcing the completion of..."), the cover letter which accompanied the initial prospectus, and a card, in colour, that shows an ex … [Click Below for Full Description]

Melville, Herman
London: Condition: Like New. The 2009 Folio Society Limited Edition of 'Moby Dick' by Herman Melville No inscriptions or bookplates. Fine slipcase. Limited Edition of 1,750 numbered copies of which this is number 175. Each copy numbered by hand on a special limitation page. Bound in leather, blocked in white and silver with a design based on one of Rockwell Kent's illustrations. Set in Fournier. 768 pages with approximately 280 black & white illustrations. Size: 9¼" x 6¾" Commentary volume is bound in buckram, 312 pages, 9¼" x 6¾". Both presented in a buckram-bound solander box. Herman Melville's tale of the hunt for the white whale, Moby Dick, is one of the greatest novels of all time. It is at once an adventure story of the high seas, and an exploration of the uncharted regions of the soul. Neglected in Melville's day, Moby-Dick is now acknowledged as a sublime work of the imagination, an American Odyssey. In Ahab, Melville creates a tragic hero on the scale of King Lear or Don Quixote. His single-minded pursuit of the whale is both terrifying and awe-inspiring, as he perverts his commercial venture into one of vengeance on a seemingly invincible foe. The crew of the Pequod, drawn from all corners of the globe, are the human casualties of Ahab's quest: battling the elements and driven onwards by a madman. GENESIS is Sebastiao Salgado's love letter to the planet. It is the result of an epic eight-year expedition to rediscover the mountains, deserts, and oceans, the animals and peoples that have so far escaped the imprint of modern society--the land and life of a still pristine planet. The GENESIS project, along with the Salgados' Instituto Terra, is dedicated to showing the beauty of our planet, reversing the damage done to it, and preserving it for the future. On over 30 trips--by foot, light aircraft, boats, canoes, and even balloons, through extreme temperatures and in sometimes dangerous conditions--Salgado has created a collection of images showing us nature, animals, and indigenous peoples in such intense beauty it takes our breath away. The reach is truly global. Through Salgado's lens, one discovers the animal species and volcanoes of the Galápagos; the penguins, sea lions, cormorants, and whales of the South Atlantic; Brazilian alligators and jaguars; and African lions, leopards, and elephants. We travel over icebergs in the Antarctic, the volcanoes of Central Africa, the ravines of the Grand Canyon, and the glaciers of Alaska.
