Bologna, Italy: Editore Damiani, 2010. First Edition. First Printing.. Hardcover. As New/As New Dust Jacket.. Bologna, Italy: Editore Damiani, 2010. Hardcover. As New/As New. First Edition/First Printing. 280 pages. Retrospective collection of all-male portrait-photographs. One of the most beautiful collections of its kind ever published. Limited Clamshell Box Edition of 60 numbered and signed copies. The limitation is indicated not on the book but on the archival print that was produced by Greg Gorman specifically for the edition. Should not be confused with the 2009 Hardcover Edition. A stunningly beautiful production by Greg Gorman and Editore Damiani: Oversize-volume format. Photographs by Greg Gorman. Essay, "The Moment of Beauty", by Peter Weiermair. Inner linen clamshell cloth box, which contains the book in the recessed center. 13 X 17 inch gallery print-sized silver-gelatin print of Christopher Atkins is encased in its own black folio, which is also laid within the box. Outer cardboard box, which protects the easily soiled linen cloth box, but is missing in many copies of the Limited Edition. Printed on glossy stock paper in Bologna, Italy to the very highest standards. In pictorial DJ with gilt titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Presents Greg Gorman's alluring eighth collection, a celebration of masculine beauty at its absolute peak, that is, "in their youth". "Comprises over 200 of the photographer's previously unpublished portraits from the last three decades, featuring famous actors shot when they were still unknown young men, from teen years into their early twenties [teen = eighteen and older; all of the models were of legal age] . Gorman's intimate celebrity portraits hinge on the sense of his subjects' vulnerability" (Publisher's blurb). "I decided to do a project that expressed my infatuation with male beauty, especially in terms of youth. The portraits don't have lots of backgrounds, they're straightforward. It's really about the person, not the elements. It boils down to the graphics of the individual more than the graphics of the setting" (Greg Gorman). They are all here, today's biggest stars, and the starlets who would give them a run for their money if looks were the sole measure. An absolute "must-have" edition for Greg Gorman collectors. This copy is one of the Limited Clamshell Box Edition, indicated as such on the gallery print-sized silver-gelatin print that is very prominently and beautifully numbered and signed in pencil on verso by Greg Gorman. It is also very prominently, beautifully, and uniquely signed by Christopher Atkins. Gorman did not sign the book itself, which is still in the publisher's original shrinkwrap. This title is now highly collectible. This is one of very few copies still available online and has no flaws, a pristine beauty. The print alone ensures that this edition's value will keep and keep going up. A rare signed copy thus. 200 plates, 1 original print. One of the finest living American photographers. A flawless collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER GREG GORMAN TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). ISBN 8862081413.

The Compendium Finale of Contemporary Jewellers 2008

Darling publ. 2009. hardcover, 2 volumes, 2400 pag. ! 13.55kg. . Most important contemporary of jewellers of 2008 !! very good edition with illustrations on each page in color. A totally fantastic experience showing this colossal workThe Compendium of Contemporary Jewellery Makers in two Volumes, Part One, 2008 This 13,5 Kilo, 2400 pages Opus Maximus was released 14 March 2009 during the International Schmuck 2009 Fair and already nicknamed by many jewellers as "the Messiah" as it was eagerly awaited since a year and was expected to bring great relief in the sleepless nights of jewellers from 54 nations. At the Compendium Party during the release, over 1000 visitors could catch a glance at the most rumoured and gossiped about publication of 2008, and managed to empty over 180 bottles with alcoholic content within a couple of hours (at daytime!). 132 lucky jewellers could carry their boxed copies home (although quite many of them somehow underestimated the physical weight of 14 kilos!). During the waiting time for the rest of the edition to be bound (by hand!) it is expected that the nickname "Messiah" will be still valid, although a big difference is that The Compendium did show up.The Compendium will show on a never done before scale and manner what is happening in 2008 in the entire worldwide Contemporary Jewellery scene. Jewellery Artists from 54 nations has been nominated by Jewellery Artists. The 1st purpose of Andy Lim, the publisher and editor, is to try to establish Contemporary Jewellery as an equally respected art form in the Contemporary Art and to create a platform, not to be neglected, which will be reached already by its sheer volume and power of 1044 artists, united in one single publication. It is not only a book about 1000 jewellers, it is a book created by 1000 jewellers, as every jeweller have the full freedom of a 2-page presentation a person. The alphabetical order of presentation secures a non hierarchical and non political ranking. The publishers 2nd purpose is to discover beyond the already wellknown and established artists (ca. 300) interesting positions of contemporary jewellery. And who are better talent scouts than the artists themselves Who are more aware than anybody else of what collegues are doing They are at the cradle of the work process. And as 3rd, but not least goal: to present an astonishing bibliophile book in an unsurpassed quality of the highest standards in the Art of Bookmaking. - 2 Volume Hardcover in the Lim-slipcase with separate pull out system. - Bound in the Final Edition of the stunning Techno Fabric. - Print and handbinding entirely in Germany, as always with Darling Publications. - A stunning book where you discover everything your heart desires and covets. - An already legendary reference book, and that´s why a MUST for libraries, museums, galleries, design lovers and the serious art and book collectors. As Bruce Metcalf explained to somebody during the making of the Compendium: "It's true there's no overarching curatorial viewpoint - by design. Lim wanted to make the selection process more open

From the publisher: "Over the course of his long career Bruce Davidson has travelled the world making reportage stories both on assignment as a member of the Magnum agency and on subjects of personal interest. A few years ago he returned to his archive of negatives housed in a room in his Manhattan apartment and began a ritual of revisiting each and every one of the stories he had made, from his work as a student in 1954 to his urban landscapes in Los Angeles in 2009. Printing in his darkroom alongside the archive, he began to elaborate a very personal selection, discovering forgotten images and throwing new light onto some of his most famous series. Outside Inside is the result of this work, a sumptuous three volume box set with fifty-three chapters over 800 pages. Each chapter is introduced by a short text written by Davidson himself. The result is a celebration of the development of a master of the medium and an autobiography, a photographer's life seen through his work." Signed by Author [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]

Pasadena, MD. [ND but 2009]. Unique artist's book by Elizabeth McKee, with two texts by Elizabeth McKee, "Some Lessons My mother Taught Me" and "Some Questions You Could Ask" all on Arches Text Wove paper coated twice with acrylic gesso so that the pages resemble oil cloth, signed on the title page by the artist / author, Elizabeth McKee, and her inner child, "Annie". Page size: 13W x 10H x .25D inches; 14pp. including self wrappers. Bound by the artist: sewn with linen thread, housed in black cloth over boards cloth clamshell box collaged with painted pieces of paper, title lettered on painted paper with mauve border on spine. The front cover starts the text, "All creation begins in chaos" and the text continues with 60 other quotes about lines. The artist explains that, as her mother died when she was but thirty-one years old, and Ms. McKee was only seven, there were no lessons actually received. The child's reaction to her mother's death was, "to try to be very good and follow the rules - stay in line - hoping that would prevent any further loss of loved ones." She goes on to explain, "Because this grief is cyclical and seems to be never ending I chose not to make a cover for this book. The end leads back to the beginning and chaos." Yet, in this chaos, the artist has created beauty and the reader / viewer enters into a dark world that still has movement and flashes of color. & To channel her inner child, the artist used her left hand to write the lessons never received, like "The end is the beginning" (back cover) and "Don't be afraid to stop out of line" and "Watch for open doors." The background painting and the lettering is in acrylics with some oil pastels. For "Some questions you could ask" the artist has used a Coptic marker (and her right hand). Some of the questions are, "Where do lines come from" and "Do all lines lead to heaven?" and "Where will I put my foot when there are no lines to follow?" Popping up between the two texts and as background are the artist's own interpretation of Linear B writing done with a seashell, including a Linear B character which the artist / author thinks of as a little girl. Some pages are collaged with stitched on and painted additions. & Truly a captivating book - with simplicity as the hook for the reader / viewer to enter into the world created within the covers. The questions asked, however, are not easily answered or forgotten.
See an Image.
Rebirth of Wonder. Something by Mary Oliver and A Circle of Love by Joan Finnigan

Pasadena, Maryland. 2009. Unique Artist's Book on Arches text wove paper, signed by the aritst and dated on the colophon page. Page size: 12-7/8 x 10 inches; 16pp. plus front and back paste downs. Bound by the artist in 1/4 black Hollander's imitation leather with brown cloth over Davey board: hand sewn simplified structure with sewing visible on smooth imitation leather spine, front panel with small original collage on front panel, housed in custom-made box of matching brown cloth which is decorated with small square fabric onlays in various shades of green, gold and tan, spine of Hollanders brown imitation leather spine. Hand-painted and hand lettered by the artist, Elizabeth McKee , the the images are accomplished in gesso, Dr. Martin's Tech ink, iridescent pastel, and collage. The Oliver text is written with white gouache and a pointed pen, the Finnigan text with a pointed brush and sumi. Both texts appear on almost every page, furling and unfurling against a painted background of lovely pinks, greens, yellows and blacks, each page spread full of motion rolling forward and backward. The reader / viewer is swept up in the images and texts of the sea - along with the creatures that dwell therein. The artist states that the two center sheets of this book were painted in a Judy Melvin workshop in 2008. The other sheets were painted as the book developed. They include snippets of Lawrence Ferlinghetti's poem, "I Am Waiting" - illegibly carved into the gesso throughout the book with the title Rebirth of Wonder taken from its refrain, "I am waiting for the rebirth of wonder". The intricate shell formation of the Knobbed whelk, together with the egg strings that the female whelk produces twice a year, are the inspiration for the images - as they are for Mary Oliver's poem. & Elizabeth McKee has studied and taught calligraphy since 1971, here in the united States and in Canada, Japan , Bangladesh , Japan, Kenya, Uganda and Russia . Her work is in the collections of the late Queen Mother, the City of Ottawa , The National Museum of Women in the Arts as well as private collections around the world.
See an Image.
Transitions. Chromogenic Prints by Judith Turner

[New York: Vincent FitzGerald & Co.. 2009. Portfolio of ten chromogenic prints on metallic paper, one of 20 copies only, each print numbered and initialed in pencil on the reverse by the photographer, Judith Turner, who has also signed her name on the colophon in pencil. Page size: 4-15/16 x 4-15/16 inches, 10 individual prints. Bound: loose as issued and housed in clear plastic box with front cover sliding out by Just Plastic. Titlepage / colophon page letterpress printed by Kelly-Winterton in black on gray paper. & Judith Turner, noted New York photographer, took these haunting images over a period of six months. They were photographed under water, chronicling the life and death of a plant. Noted for her images of architecture, published in trade books since 1979, and by the private press, Vincent FitzGerald & Co., since 1990, she brings a solidity of shape and concreteness to the transitory water lily. The use of Kodak's silver paper for these images presents an illusive shimmer to the plant in water - suggesting the play of sunlight that would occur in the plant's natural habitat.& Ms. Turner's photography is held by many institutions including the Canadian Center for Architecture, the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Japan, Tel Aviv Museum, Tel Aviv, Israel, and the International Center for Photography and the Brooklyn Museum, among others. She has received numerous awards and grants including in 2007 a Star of Design Award in Photography by the Design Center of New York and in 1994 the American Institute of Architects Award.

Ballad for a Crazy / Balada para un Loco. Music by Astor Piazzola and Lyrics by Horatio Ferrer. Translated from the original Spanish to English by Alberto Paz

Stillwater, ME USA and Buenos Aires, Argentina. 2009. Unique artist's book by Maine-based artist Nancy Leavitt, collaborating with Buenos Aires binder Sol Rebora, executed on several different papers - white, salmon pink, aqua, periwinkle, ochre, gold and dark blue, signed by the artist, Nancy Leavitt, on the colophon and dated and by the binder, Sol Rebora. Page size: 11 x 6-7/8 inches; 22pp. lettered and painted by Ms. Leavitt plus colophon. Bound by Sol Rebora in purple morocco, with onlays of purple skins (skived from the top skin these are the middle parings in variant shades), punctuated with white (tinged with lavender) irregular circles and small white dots extending over top half on front panel and bottom half on back panel, the overall design not unlike the patterns of footprints used to teach dance steps; spine smooth, top headbands of light blue, aqua, and white, bottom bands of pink, white, and light blue, turn-ins of dark purple Japanese paper, housed in custom-made matching clamshell box of lavender paper over boards, purple morocco spine stamped in palladium gilt with title in English and Spanish. The binding is a study in dimensionality - with ever so subtle changes in level from onlay to onlay, weaving a delicate pattern one's eye cannot help but follow. & A most whimsical and enchanting book - guaranteed to set your feet dancing and your heart flying. Ms. Leavitt's soaring birds, moon, oranges, sky, and rainbow of words in orange, blue, yellow and blue work together to make the lyrics of this Argentine tango come to life - or rather to a life on another happier plane of existence than is usually found on this planet. Ms. Rebora's elegant restrained binding is the perfect foil for the exuberance of the text and images. The text reads in part, "You laugh! But only you can see me: / because the mannequins wink at me, the traffic lights flash me three lights sky-blue / and the oranges at the corner grocery stand / cast their blossoms at me. / come on! that this way, half dancing, half flying..." and "From Vieytes they applaud: 'Hooray! Hooray!' / the nuts who invented love..." and "Love me the way I am, crazy, crazy, crazy...". The colors and images are inspired by the words - and we sing and dance along with author, composer, and artists.
See an Image.
Each etching was not re-inked when repeated on the silver Mylar page resulting in a shadow image. The text is laser cut. It appears first in Ms. Partovi's elegant Persian calligraphy at the top and bottom of each page with the circular litho surrounding circular disc cut into each page, "reading" as silver against the succeeding silver Mylar page. It is followed by her flowing English translation on the silver Mylar page. This English text appears at the top and bottom of each page, and "reads" as white from the following linen page. It can be read through the linen page, just below and above where the Persian calligraphic lines appear. The circular cut-outs on each page are successively smaller; the final cut on the colophon page reveals the stainless steel base. Combinations of four different inks were used to print each of the lithographs resulting in each page appearing slightly darker as the concentric "circles" become smaller. & Ms. Partovi's translated lines, "When he summons me I behold myself! Unsightly or worthy of the magnetism?" or "How now can I see my own face?" are perfectly translated in this book. Whoever reads the text sees their own image reflected in the silver Mylar. It is at once disconcerting and yet to the point of Rumi's search for illumination and union with God. One of the central figures of Islamic culture, Rumi (1207-1273) only recently began to emerge as a poet of significance to Westerners. Zahra Partovi, the translator, has taught the poetry of Rumi at The New School for Social Research, and is widely acknowledged as one of the leading interpreters of his work for English-speaking readers. She has collaborated with Vincent FitzGerald on 11 previous limited editions of Rumi's work. Her own words on the significance of Rumi's poetry explain her work. "...the most remarkable biographical information about Jalaluddin Rumi's life is not the appearance and disappearance of the mystic Shams, but Rumi's imperative and conscious decision to make a change in his career from a Sufi teacher to a poet. Here the medium is truly the message: the most successful Sufi teacher of all times with countless devoted followers chooses to communicate through the path of poetry. This masterful poet combines philosophy, mysticism, and psychology in a language so piercing as to enter the realm of music. It is this element more than any other which has made Rumi's poetry so irresistible to readers for over seven hundred years, even through the fire of translation." The United Nations designated 2007 as the year of Rumi - a singular distinction for this 13th century Persian poet. He has, in recent years, been the best-selling poet in the United States. & Fran Siegel, currently a Professor of Drawing and Painting at California State University Long Beach, graduated from Yale with an MFA and Temple's Tyler School of Art. She has had numerous solo exhibitions, as well as group shows, and was the US Representative at the IX International Bienal of Cuenca Ecuador. Her collaboration with Vincent FitzGerald & Company results in an astonishing book. The other collaborators include Kelly Driscoll, who created the art for FRAGMENTS OF LIGHT II and Milgo Bufkin (stainless steel base) who has worked with well- known visual artists such as Ellsworth Kelly and Robert Indiana. Well- known printer and book designer, Jerry Kelly, has worked with FitzGerald for over 25 years, helping produce very beautiful books. The Dieu Donne paper used for this book is incredibly strong and yet translucent. Mr. FitzGerald, once again, has assumed the role of "Maestro" for these individual performers, leading and coordinating their elegant performance for our benefit.
See an Image.
Niles, MI: Eugenie Torgerson, 2009. Fine. UNIQUE ARTISTS' BOOK. Eugenie Torgerson is a book artist, photographer, printer, and illustrator from Michigan. She has been represented by art galleries across the U.S, and her work can be found in many corporate collections. In her artist's statement she says: "I build book and box forms with traditional bookbinding materials and methods. These sculptural objects contain my own pastel drawings and imagery generated from my own photographs. The stories they tell are contained in my words and the poetry of Kevin McCue. My subjects are the allure of the horizon, the power of the land, the experience of loss, and the sweetness of redemption." This exceptional book object comprises three individual parts. There is a small illustrated book with short poems that rests open on a box stand. The book and stand are covered by a box with a glass window on the top. Each object has been meticulously and creatively designed and produced using Ms. Torgerson's art, photography, and writing. The book is 3 inches wide x 4 inches tall x 3.5 inches thick. The poems are printed on vellum paper and coated with shellac, and the images are printed on various interesting papers. The book is bound in silver cloth with silver metal medallions on the front and back, and black and white beads around the edges. The spine is of brown suede and also has small beads sewn on. The book rests in a cradle at the top of its box stand. The stand is 5 inches tall and 9 x 10 inches at the base. The cradle is covered in green/gold cloth and decorated paper. There are the same small beads which are seen on the book cover, and there is also a medallion in the middle. The sides of the box have beautiful landscape images which are printed on Yupo synthetic material and waxed. The box base has two levels, one covered in orange cloth and the other with cloth in a gold and black design. The cover is 8 inches x 9 inches x 9 inches. The top and base are covered in decorated cloth. Each side is covered in brown cloth and has a landscape image printed on Yupo synthetic material and waxed. It has a window on top which allows one to look in at the book. This singular, stunning book object perfectly reflects Ms. Torgerson's creativity and artistry. In fine condition. Three volume landmark series of papers providing the first mathematical analysis of epidemics as well as “the first mathematical model that could be used to describe an influenza epidemic” (Coburn, “Modeling influenza,” BMC Medicine, 7, 2009, 1741). “Mathematical modeling of epidemics goes back to 1927 with the formulation of [these] classical equations” Lewis, Network Science, 8.1.1). The Kermack-McKendrick model is known as the Susceptible-Infections-Recovered (SIR) model and is used to depict the number of people infected with a contagious illness in a closed population over time. To simulate an influenza epidemic the model, Kermack and McKendrick developed the pioneering threshold theorem that enables the interval between epidemics and their size to be studied. “According to this, the introduction of infectious cases into a community of susceptibles would not give rise to an epidemic if the density of susceptibles was below a certain critical value. Once the critical value was exceeded, then there would be an epidemic of magnitude sufficient to reduce the density of susceptibles as far below the threshold as it originally was above” (Cliff, Deciphering Global Epidemics, 26). [Kermack and McKendrick’s] SIR model has been used as a basis for all subsequent influenza models” (Lewis). Furthermore, beyond influenza models, “most modern mathematical epidemiology” is based on these classic papers (Watts, Six Degrees, 332). CONDITION & DETAILS: Three volume 4to. 10 x 7 inches (250 x 175mm). Ex-libris: Small library stamps on front and rear end papers (IBM Research Laboratories); no other library markings whatsoever. The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun, Signed Limited Numbered Super Deluxe Edition

London: Harper Collins, 2009. De Luxe Edition. Full-Leather. Bill Sanderson. Signed by Editor. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun, The number 88 of 500 of the UK Signed Limited Numbered Super Deluxe Edition, published by Harper Collins in 2009, the first publication of a previously unknown work by J.R.R. Tolkien. Copy number 88, edited and signed by his son, Christopher Tolkien, to the Limitation Notice. The story tells the epic story of the Norse hero Sigurd the dragon slayer, the revenge of his wife, Gudrun, and the Fall of the Niflungs. From the publisher's release statement, "Many years ago, J.R.R. Tolkien composed his own version, now published for the first time, of the great legend of Northern antiquity, in two closely related poems to which he gave the titles The New Lay of the Volsungs and The New Lay of Gudrun. In the Lay of the Volsungs is told the ancestry of the great hero Sigurd, the slayer of Fafnir most celebrated of dragons, whose treasure he took for his own; of his awakening of the Valkyrie Brynhild who slept surrounded by a wall of fire, and of their betrothal; and of his coming to the court of the great princes who were named the Niflungs (or Nibelungs), with whom he entered into blood-brotherhood. In that court there sprang great love but also great hate, brought about by the power of the enchantress, mother of the Niflungs, skilled in the arts of magic, of shape-changing and potions of forgetfulness. In scenes of dramatic intensity, of confusion of identity, thwarted passion, jealousy and bitter strife, the tragedy of Sigurd and Brynhild, of Gunnar the Niflung and Gudrun his sister, mounts to its end in the murder of Sigurd at the hands of his blood-brothers, the suicide of Brynhild, and the despair of Gudrun. In the Lay of Gudrun her fate after the death of Sigurd is told, her marriage against her will to the mighty Atli, ruler of the Huns (the Attila of history), his murder of her brothers the Niflung lords, and her hideous revenge. Deriving his version primarily from his close study of the ancient poetry of Norway and Iceland known as the Poetic Edda (and where no old poetry exists, from the later prose work the Volsunga Saga), J.R.R. Tolkien employed a verse-form of short stanzas whose lines embody in English the exacting alliterative rhythms and the concentrated energy of the poems of the Edda." -- Christopher Tolkien. Features a color frontispiece of a facsimile page from J.R.R. Tolkien's original manuscript. Fully bound in Brown Leather with matching full leather clamshell case, stamped in gold foil with a unique motif of Sigurd's horse, Grani. Printed on superior quality paper and including a silk ribbon marker sewn into the textblock. Matches the recently released UK Signed Limited Numbered Super Deluxe Edition of The Children of Hurin. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested. Notebook for a Transformation

[New York. 2009]. Unique artist's book / wall hanging with bas-relief sculpture and manuscript notebook, collaged with images and text on each page, signed, with the title and date, by the artist / author on the back of bar from which the notebook hangs, "Sandra Jackman." Size: total dimensions of piece are 11 x 11.25 inches, about 2.5 inches deep; the notebook itself is 4 x 6 inches and including covers has 22pp. all of which have been painted and / or collaged. Bound: purchased spiral-bound notebook covered with hand-made paper and collaged with found materials on the front and painted gold with green and yellow on the back, suspended from a wood bar which had been painted and collaged and serves as base for white paper collage of head of angel / demon, with dried pieces suspended from other side of bar in beaded netting. While the bar has mounts on the reverse to facilitate hanging, it is also housed in a black cloth over boards fold- open box measuring 13 x 12 x 3 inches. The text is troubling. A fragment reads, "None the wiser each side dies believing in the sign..." and we understand that religious fanaticism has caused endless pain and destruction throughout human history. Images are not overt. Well-known religious paintings are covered, mutated, transformed, as is the message of goodness and love that marks most of the world's religions when fanaticism takes over. Disturbingly compelling, this angel and it's book are spectacular.
See an Image.
The Romantics in Wales An Anthology

Tregynon, Newtown, Powys: Gwasg Gregynog, 2009 The edition is limited to 150 numbered copies in a quarter-leather binding by John Sewell to a design by Hilary Paynter. The text is set in Monotype Walbaum, and display lines in Monotype Romulus, all cast at Gwasg Gregynog by Gerard O'Shea. A digitized version of Open Romulus has been used on the title-page and is printed from a line block. The page design, by David Vickers, echoes the large paper format of the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries, and the book is printed by him on a special making of Zerkall mould-made paper. Hilary Paynter's wood engravings are printed direct from the original woodblocks, 222pp, 245X350mm.Bound by John Sewell to a design by Hilary Paynter. Hand-sewn and bound by hand in quarter dark blue goatskin, with hand-sewn silk endbands and titled along the spine. The upper cover printed black over dark mauve cloth boards with detail from Hilary Paynter's engraving of Pistyll Rhaeadr, a design which is mirrored on the lower cover. Presented in a buckram-covered slip case.GLYN TEGAI HUGHES became the first Warden of Gregynog in the University of Wales (1964-1989). His publications include two volumes on German Romanticism and books on the hymn-writer Williams Pantycelyn and, in Welsh, the poet Islwyn.HILARY PAYNTER was instrumental in the revival of the Society of Wood Engravers in the early 1980s, for over three decades. In 2006, she was elected President of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. Her sixteen engravings for The Romantics in Wales (ten of which are full-page) combine acute and subtle observation, complete mastery of technique and, on occasion, captivating imaginative re-creation, as in a vision of the Shelleys' home at Cwm Elan, now under the waters of the reservoir. Other views include Pistyll Rhaeadr, Plas Newydd and Dinas Bran, Snowdonia, Symonds Yat, Tintern Abbey, Valle Crucis, and the castles at Caernarfon, Chepstow and Raglan.
