Butcher, David
The Whittington Press (2001). Limited Edition. Leather. 4to - over 9" - 12" tall. 161 p. Fine. No. VII of forty of the deluxe version, out of a total edition of 350, bound in full Oasis leather with endpapers marbled by Christopher Rowlatt, with a separate portfolio of original prospectuses. The book's Introduction points out that an alternate title for this work might have been "The pleasures of private press prospectuses", as these prospectuses themselves have become collectible both as a substitute for the books themselves which are often scarce or rare, and not inexpensive to obtain; and because they offer an insight into "the activities and intentions of the press concerned". The Whittington Press is singularly appropriate as a publisher of the joys of fine press printing, being renowned today for their own publications. The separate portfolio of original prospectuses for this volume includes: Rampant Lions Press (Areopagitica), Chilmark Press (The Mountains), Gwasg Gregynog (Deaths and Entrances), Inky Parrot (The Return of A.J. Raffles), Previous Parrot (An Anamorphic Alphabet), The Old School Press (Catalogue - some plans, no promises), Gregynog (Eros and Psyche - 1935), Tabard Private Press (Book Production Notes), Whittington Press (Fine Papers of the Oxford University Press), Whittington Press (Plans Etc.), Whittington Press (Wallpapers Printed at the Curwen Press), September Press (The Four Gospels), Golden Cockerel Press (Mademoiselle de Maupin), Doves Press (In Preparation - 1914), Celtic Cross Press (Stained Glass Windows), Nonesuch Press (Catalogue - 1928), … [Click Below for Full Description]

Arches Cover paper and Japanese paper with acrylic ink, Sumi-e ink, gouache, pigment powder, thread, screen print, linoleum, carborundum, and transfer prints. Multi-needle coptic bound with hard cover. Signed and dated by the artist. Rachel Simmons: "In 2010, the Deepwater Horizon Oil Rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico; it took 86 days to stop the flow of oil into the water and the damage to the marine ecosystems was devastating. I witnessed the emotional and financial impact on my family in the Florida Panhandle and I wanted to better understand this terrible accident within the larger context of the history of oil exploration. Researching major global oil spills since 1967, I was not surprised to find that humans have spilled billions of gallons of oil into rivers, lakes, and oceans, and that many of the spills have gone unnoticed or even unreported. In other words, Deepwater was a catastrophe, but it was just another disaster in an industry riddled with disasters. "The book uses French Clarendon, a typeface from the 1800's for the text which repeats several times, 'rude crude spill will soak sea brown black clean green American dream.' These prints were created through layering letterpress, serigraphy and carborundum and then mounted in pairs on each spread. Each print was washed and splattered with ink to evoke the colors of the mar … [Click Below for Full Description]

No writing inside and cover has some minor wear. This rare copy is not currently available anywhere. Has an inserted newspaper clipping about Trotter's exhibition at the Glasgow School of Art. Edmund Carpenter
Rock Foundation, New York, 2001. Beautifully printed reproductions, each on a separate sheet, of 21 sketches by the Eskimo native, collected at the turn of the 20th century by Robert Flaherty. Cased in a cloth covered clamshell box with separately printed sewn wrapper commentary by the esteemed anthropologist Edmund Carpneter nearly a century later. Only two copies of the original 1915 book are known to exist. This facsimile copy is an unnumbered copy from an edition of 200. Drawings by the Eskimo at this time were exceptionally rare, and the harsh weather of the region isolated the native peoples from the art traditions of the world. But these minute, spare, and sensitive renditions of a life lived closely tied to nature, the walrus, the caribou, the hunt. An exquisite production of a rare glimpse into what is still a little explored world. [Attributes: Soft Cover]

Gelatin Rubinowitz, Tex Translated By Quinn, Jonathan
Konig, 2001. Did foreign art students covertly install a balcony on the 91st floor of World Trade Center Tower 1 in the months preceding the 911 attacks? This enigmatic work claims to document the evolution and execution of such a stunt in both sketches and color photos. Examine for yourself the photos taken from a helicopter of a person apparently standing on the balcony. 55 pages. Clean, bright and unmarked with negligible wear. Photographic pages tend to stick together so must be opened with care. Provokes disquieting questions about WTC security and the demise of the twin towers in the same year the small print run of this work was issued.

This Auction posted by DAVE, for faster service please address any questions to DAVE. Thank You, Happy Bidding! Frequently Asked Questions: What is your base shipping for raw comics? Our base ship method will be in a media box, media mail for $5 domestic. If it says expedited $5.60 that's a typo! Base shipping price you see is for your item to be shipped very well in the appropriate box. We spend money on these boxes to protect during shipping so you can be confident your item will arrive securely. What is your base shipping for CGC comics? Domestic for CGCs are $10 for the first and $5 for each additional one you add. Do you combine shipping? Yes, of like items. Such as: several comics can fit in one media box, as can more than one record. Multiple art pages can easily be combined because they are light and thin. Where combined shipping differs is with size and weight. For instance, two statues require a much bigger box. Same goes for CGCs, as the package gets bigger and heavier as you go. Do you ship well? I've had some bad experiences... You needn't worry; we are professionals who value your business and want your item to arrive safely as much as you do. I have been collecting for over 30 years.
