Piecework. Poetry by Corey Mesler. Illustrated by Suzanne Moore. Bound by Donald Glaister

Tuscaloosa, AL: The Wing & The Wheel Press. 2000. First edition, artist&#39;s proof copy, in a unique binding, together with the paper-bound copy, the specially-bound copy hand-colored by the artist, Suzanne Moore, all on Hahnemuhle Biblio paper, both books signed by the artist, Suzanne Moore, and the poet, Corey Mesler, and are housed in custom-made red leather clamshell box replicating book form with rounded spine, onlays and elaborate title tooling on spine by Donald Glaister. Included are three working samples of pages created by Ms. Moore to complement Corey Mesler&#39;s poems. The edition consisted of 176 numbered and lettered copies, each signed by the artist and poet: 100 copies in Hanemuhle Bugra paper wrappers, 50 copies in quarter-bound Japanese cloth over board with hand-coloring by the artist, Suzanne Moore, and 26 deluxe lettered copies, hand colored by Suzanne Moore and gilded, as well as a few Artist&#39;s Proof copies (this copy). Page size: 7-1/2 x 4-3/4 inches; 38pp. Bound by Donald Glaister in half-leather (grey Nigerian goatskin) with handmade intensely colored pastepapers by Ms. Moore. The spine is smooth with the title stamped in gold gilt in a designed pattern using the letters in the title, red and black headbands, brown endpapers, signed in blind on the inside back join by Donald Glaister. The leather and pastepaper copy of the book, together with one of the 100 copies of the edition, as well as the original lettering studies in paper folio are housed together in an elaborate full red morocco clamshell box with rounded spine, the title is a repeat - only larger - of the design on the spine of the book, red box decorated with rounded fillet in silver and grey on edge of front panel, onlays of a hand-colored letterpress print by Ms. Moore covered with Mylar in broken pattern forming rectangular band at foredge, box signed in blind by Donald Glaister with his signature gold dot and dated 2011. This elaborate and beautiful morocco box is housed in a red cloth clamshell box with printed paper label, title, author, and press in black, and hand-painted design by Suzanne Moore.& The book contains 12 poems by Corey Mesler and paragrams created by Suzanne Moore to complement each of Corey Mesler&#39;s poems. Ms. Moore explains that working with a key concept from each poem, she invented letter-based designs that extend the feeling and content of each poem to where the line between visual and verbal begins to blur. Her work melds, weaves, and plays with visual and verbal messages in her lettering and painting. It is printed, engraved, and for these copies, hand colored in vivid tones with silver and gold gilt. The text was set in Monotype Fairbank Italic at the foundry of Michael and Winifred Bixler and printed letterpress by Terry Chouinard, who designed this beautiful book with Suzanne Moore. A wonderful assemblage - showing the artist working through a project. <br>See an <A HREF= >Image.</A><br>

        Norwegian Wood

London: Harvill, 2000. First editions, first printings. Both volumes are signed by Haruki Murakami. Both volumes are in fine condition and are in the original gold box. When Norwegian Wood was first published in Japan, it quickly attained cult status, making the author a national celebrity. "I wrote Norwegian Wood after the Beatles tune. Aside from the first-person protagonist, I created five characters, two of whom were to die. Not even I knew which of the five would life and which would die. The protagonist is in love with two different women, but not until the very end did I find out which of them would be his. Of course there was always the possibility that they would both die and he would be left alone." (Haruki Murakami)

London, England: Duckworth Literary Entertainment, 2000. First Edition. First Printing.. Hardcover. As New/As New Dust Jacket.. London, England: Duckworth Literary Entertainment, 2000. Hardcover. As New/As New. First Edition/First Printing. 254 pages. The author&#39;s breakthrough debut novel/collaborative effort with Damien Hirst. Now considered a contemporary classic. Limited Edition of 500 numbered and signed copies. Precedes and should not be confused with the regular trade edition. The book is now rare. One of the most stunningly beautiful books ever published: Regular-sized volume format. Red cloth boards with gilt titles on spine, as issued. Text by Danny Moynihan. Original art by Damien Hirst. Hirst&#39;s art is in the form of the wraparound DJ cover, a hectic collage that consists of and alludes to the art of various contemporary artists. He gives credit to all of them: Sarah Lucas, Marc Quinn, Jeff Koons, Michael Joo, Matthew Collishaw, and himself. With Damien Hirst&#39;s supervision, one of his most fully realized (and financially accessible) creations underwent two further transformations: The photograph of Hirst&#39;s original art was taken by Mike Parsons while the subsequent digital manipulation was done by Steve Warner. Both the title and the art are an unmistakable homage to Piet Mondrian&#39;s "Broadway Boogie-Woogie". Red satin ribbon marker. In pictorial DJ with titles on the cover and spine, as issued. The main attraction of the Limited Edition is unquestionably Damien Hirst&#39;s DJ art. Discovered by Charles Saatchi (who bought his entire debut exhibition), Damien Hirst is not only the contemporary British art world&#39;s answer to Andy Warhol. He is our Warhol, the most famous and most expensive living artist of our time. Moynihan holds his own: "Sharp and wickedly sexy, &#39;Boogie-Woogie&#39; is the look at the contemporary art world we&#39;ve all been waiting for. It will be required reading in twenty years. In the meantime, read it and laugh. Satire doesn&#39;t come any more brilliant than this" (Cressida Connolly). No, it doesn&#39;t, and the duo deserves our lasting gratitude for bursting the bubble of the New York art scene&#39;s powers-that-be. Ingrid Sischy, the former Editor of Artforum Magazine and unbearably pretentious current Editor of Interview Magazine (Warhol would never have hired her) once remarked that "book people do not understand art people". Alas, they do. The book-as-collectible, this is a "must-have" title for Damien Hirst, Danny Moynihan, Modern First, and art collectors. <b><i> This copy is one of the Limited Edition, indicated as such on the Front Limitation Page, and is very prominently and beautifully numbered and signed in black pen by Danny Moynihan. He also crossed out his printed name. The "Limited Edition" Duck Seal is stamped directly on the page itself, not a tipped-in page. In addition, the Limited Edition is spectacularly signed in black pen on the DJ itself by Damien Hirst, thereby turning it into an original art piece. London galleries frame and sell the DJ by itself as a Damien Hirst work of art because it is. This edition is now highly collectible. This is one of very few copies still available online and has no flaws, a pristine beauty. A rare signed copy thus. </b></i> Two of the most brilliant living artists. A flawless collectible copy. .       Gottingen, Germany: Gerhard Steidl Druckerei Und Verlag, 2000. First Edition. First Printing.. Hardcover. As New/As New Dust Jacket.. Gottingen, Germany: Gerhard Steidl Druckerei Und Verlag, 2000. Hardcover. As New/As New. First Edition/First Printing. 128 pages. Artist Book. One of the most beautiful erotic art photography books of our time. Limited Slipcased Edition of 500 numbered and signed copies. Precedes and should not be confused with the regular trade edition. The latter is often mistaken for (and in some cases, being passed off as) the Limited Edition because it has some similarities with the Limited Edition. Still, the Limited Edition itself is vastly superior in terms of production values to the trade edition. The Limited Edition is now rare. An austerely elegant production by Michel Comte, Gerhard Steidl, and Bernard Fischer: Oversize-volume format. Pristine-white Japanese silk cloth boards with red titles embossed on cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Michel Comte. Except for a brief Afterword Essay by Ike Ude, there is no text. Cardboard slipcase with titles printed on glossy stock paper pasted on one side. Printed on Monadnock Dulcet Smooth 210g thick uncoated stock paper in Gottingen, Germany to the highest standards. In (the often-missing) glassine DJ, as issued. Presents "Aiko T. ", Michel Comte&#39;s single most beautiful Artist Book. It is devoted entirely to one model, Aiko, who arrives in a kimono created specially for her by the great fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto. She is the ultimate embodiment of Woman and the universal fantasy of every heterosexual male. A "present" from a Japanese film producer, Aiko arrives elaborately dressed like a modern-day geisha, promptly loses her inhibitions (and kimono), and treats the photographer to a tour-de-force erotic performance. Comte captures her every delirious expression, her every ecstatic quiver, and her every explosive orgasm (seven in all). Comte treads a very fine line between French-cum-Japanese eroticism and "hardcore" pornography. Aiko&#39;s seamless transition from kimono to naked flesh, while reminiscent of Nobuyoshi Araki&#39;s work, also alludes to (and goes beyond) the French striptease. What Comte has pulled off is a work that celebrates the primal yet subtle power of beauty and sensuality. An absolute "must-have" title for Michel Comte and erotic art photography collectors. <b><i> This copy is Number 70, indicated as such on the Front Limitation Page, and it is very prominently and beautifully numbered and signed in pencil by the photographer: "70/500 Michel Comte". It is also very prominently and beautifully signed in pencil (below Comte&#39;s signature) by Ike Ude. This is an Import title, was not commercially distributed in the United States, and is now highly collectible. As far as we know, this is the only copy of Limited Slipcased Edition available online and has absolutely no flaws, a pristine beauty. The glassine DJ, inexplicably missing in many copies when the book was first released, is in pristine condition. A rare signed copy thus. </b></i> Lavishly illustrated with duotone and color plates. One of the most brilliant living photographers. A flawless collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER MICHEL COMTE TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). ISBN 3882437022.

Les Jardins Disparus Illustrated by Judith Rothchild

Octon, France: Verdigris. 2000. Limited Edition of 50 copies, Signed and numbered by author and illustrator. All copies on Hahnemulhe paper. Page size: 8 1/2 x 6 3/4". 12 pages. Rouanet&#39;s imaginative story about "Lost Gardens" is illustrated with eight original mezzotints by Judith Rothchild. Letterpress printed by Mark Lintott on an Albion press. Bound by Claude Vallin: leporello binding, tucked into a two-color screen-printed paper sleeve, with slipcase of same design; both by the artist, fine. This generous, quiet story begins with a group of fig-laden trees remind one of the "jardins disparus" (the lost garden); ambles through a liminal space of moths and snails and memory and sun; and ends imagining an elusive and transcendent field of green existing beyond time: "Une epaisseur des taillis, une sorte de verdure, encouragees par l&#39;humidite cachee, se souviennent de l&#39;eau et du jardin longtemps apres la mort des hommes" (a thickness of copses, a sort of green, encouraged by the concealed humidity, recalls to mind the water and the garden a long time after the death of man). Rothchild&#39;s faintly luminous mezzotints of snails evoke a world just emerging from the soil, as well as one existing beyond human time. The prehistoric beauty of even these most simple life forms evoke, according to the epigraph, "la Geometrie souveraine qui regit le monde" ("the sovereign geometry which rules the world"). <br>See an <A HREF= >Image.</A><br>

        Love among the Chickens

A very near fine copy ,with no soiling stains foxing inscriptions or darkening to spine .minor wear to top and bottom of spine .An advance copy .This copy is a little more interesting as it has a small chip from the original wrapper approx 2mm x2mm . This does'nt add much if anything to the value but is perhaps the closest that most collectors will come to finding a copy . I 've had one copy in twenty years and it was extremely fragile and sold for the price of a small house .I think the rarity was due to a combination of factors .The print run I think was around 2000 ,in 1909 there was no value placed on wrappers they were to protect the illustrated boards until reaching their destination and the book was quite heavy which was not condusive to the wrapper surviving. As far as I know there are no more than five copies that have survived and if another copy turns up it will either go to auction or be sold privately as theres a waiting list ,so its not likely to appear on the open market .

Im Detail: Einfach Bauen: Building Simply (In Detail) [Gebundene Ausgabe] von Christian Schittich (Herausgeber), Catherine Anderle-Neil (Übersetzer)

Birkhäuser Architektur, 2000. Auflage: 1 (1. Januar 2000). Hardcover. Good. 30,2 x 23,3 x 2 cm. In a time of loud gestures and ostentation, unpretentious buildings, which have been reduced to the essentials with no superfluous decoration, are soothing in their purity. This new volume in the series, "In Detail" demonstrates the breadth and complexity of the issues involved in building simply, from functional and economic demands, through ecological and energy-related aspects, to design and construction requirements. "Building Simply" can be read and applied in many ways. In the face of the sheer wealth of possibilities available today and the ever quicker changes in design and style, it is a creative process which does justice to the nature and quality of the materials used and gives rise to unique projects through an economy of means and resources. The project section documents a comprehensive range of international examples, from simple wooden bridges, to pavilions, residential buildings, workshops, and warehouses.
