Florit, Eugenio
Madrid: Insula, 1965. Book. Inscribed by Author(s). Cuban poet, Spanish text, collection of six inscribed softcover poetry works and one hardcover-concordances of his work 1967, by Alice M. Pollin (Alicia of the inscriptions? ), NYU Press, about 1060pps. Collection also includes: Habito de Esperanza, poems 1936-1964 (1965), inscribed plus TLS letter, all inscribed to Alicia (1 1/4 pages) loosely inserted; Nino de Ayer, New York, 1940 (1991); Las Noches (1988); Castillo Interior i otros versos (1987); El Cementerio Marino (1990); and Versos Pequenos, 1938-1975 (1979). Eugenio Florit, considered a Cuban poet although his work and life were developed largely outside the island, beginning with his European birth, as a Cuban-born child married to a Spaniard. However, when his mother returned to Havana in 1917, Florit consolidated studies that had hitherto been disorderly (he graduated in law and chose the diplomatic career) and, above all, discovered his central vocation: in a little over twenty years he gave To know his first book ( 32 Poemas Breves ), and already integrated to the group of the magazine Avance., The first guarantee he obtained among Spanish exiles, who considered him one of his favorite poets (J. Guillén, P. Salinas and L. Cernuda supported several of his later works). He took charge of the Cuban consulate in New York, to which he resigned in 1945 and dedicated himself to teaching at Columbia University and New York's Barnard College, until his retirement in 1969. He died in 1999. Near Fine. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Soft Cover]

Pinter, Harold
London: Methuen & Co, 1965. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/near fine. 1st edition of The Nobel Laureate's Tony Award Winning play, a sizeable rotation in post-modern theater, accentuating the spoken word as weapon, and the unspoken word as eloquence. The Homecoming is a striking child of the 1960s, though drama is a less recognized fragment of the cultural revolution than the clothes, music, dope, politics, haircuts, or even the burnt draft cards and bras, for which the era is more generally remembered (I'm not saying sex, because there's always been sex). Presentation copy, inscribed using his stage name (David Baron), to Vivien Merchant (his wife), the lead actress, and the only woman in the play. And she is pictured on the jacket in a scene from the play. Near fine in a near fine dustjacket. An unsurpassable association copy, as no play meant more to Pinter, and no presentation copy of it, meant as much.
