Helen Levitt and James Agee, First Edition
James Agee & Helen Levitt. A Way of Seeing: Photographs of New York. NY: Viking Press, 1965. First Edition, First Printing. Measuring approximately 7" x 9.5", the book is oblong and bound in the original black cloth boards in a photographically illustrated dust jacket. The condition of the book is Near Fine+ with very minor age toning to the edges. The dust jacket is price clipped and in Very Good+ condition with a bit of wear to the tips, a 1" crease on the upper right front corner, and very minor loss at the spine head. Overall, this is a collectible copy of an exceptional photobook classic. This is a first edition, first printing of the critically acclaimed photobook, "A Way of Seeing: Photographs of New York" published by The Viking Press, New York in 1965. "A Way of Seeing" was Helen Levitt's first published collection of photographs and features 50 incredible gravure plates of her pictures taken on the streets of Yorkville, Harlem and the Lower East Side. In The Photobook: A History, Martin Parr and Gerry Badger write, "Levitt's photographs are beautiful - major underrated works. Like Henri Cartier-Bresson, she achieves a rare balancing act: her pictures have sentiment without being sentimental, always maintaining an objective distance. The casual observer of these pictures, dazzled by their poetry, could easily miss the harsher realities masked by the surface warmth and joie de vivre." The New York Times stated, "Helen Levitt was the first American photographer to fully comprehend the essence of Henri Cartier-Bresson's photographic message and put it into practice. FLEMING, Ian.
London: Jonathan Cape, 1965. Octavo. Original black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, gun design to front cover in gilt, green and white endpapers. With the dust jacket. Two ownership inscriptions to front free endpaper. Head of spine gently bumped, marks to top edge, slight crease to centre of front cover, lower fore tips bumped. A very good copy in the jacket, with a little rubbing to spine ends, tiny crease to head of spine and panels. First edition, first impression, first issue, first state, with the gilt gun design to the front cover, a design in line with the binding of other Bond novels, whereby a device was stamped onto the front cover. This gun device was abandoned, however, very early in the binding run for economic reasons. It is the final Bond novel to be written by Fleming, who died before making his final revisions, and is also the scarcest issue of any of the James Bond books. Many of the early issue copies were sent to Commonwealth countries in order to ensure a synchronised release date. "Publication day would be the same throughout the British Commonwealth and stock would need to arrive in good time to meet this date. The books were sent from the UK via container ship (a 'slow boat') as air transport was expensive, and those nations furthest afield would be sent the earliest available copies (which, of course, meant the 'Golden Gun' bindings) at the first opportunity, to ensure a simultaneous publication as intended" (Gilbert, p. 418). j.g. Ballard
Johnathan Cape, 1965. GREAT CONDITION. A REALLY NICE COPY OF THIS RARE BOOK MADE DOUBLY RARE BY BALLARD'S SIGNATURE some slight wrinkling to the front edge of the dust jacket and a square of slight discoloration on the spine as can be seen in the photos but that's it - usually the spine on these is very faded but the colour on this one remains strong - it's been kept in the dark! Wrapped in protective film. In contrast to Ballard's earlier novel The Drowned World, The Drought (The Burning World) describes a world in which water is scarce. After an extensive drought, rivers have turned to trickles and the earth to dust, causing the world's populations to head toward the oceans in search of water. The drought is caused by industrial waste flushed into the ocean, which form an oxygen-permeable barrier of saturated long-chain polymers that prevents evaporation and destroys the precipitation cycle. Can be seen as part of a thematic trilogy with The Drowned World and The Crystal World. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; In Dust Jacket]

Jack Kerouac
Coward-McCann, Inc. "Desolation Angels" by Jack Kerouac with original, un-clipped dust jacket (showing the original $5.95 price). 1965 1st Edition, 1st Printing; New York; Coward-McCann. DESOLATION ANGELS With the publication of "On the Road" in 1957, Jack Kerouac became at once the spokesman and hero of the Beat Generation. Along with such visionaries as William S. Burroughs, Neal Cassady, and Allen Ginsberg, Kerouac changed the face of American literature, igniting a counterculture revolution that even now, decades later, burns brighter than ever in Desolation Angels. Desolation Angels is Jack Kerouac's strongest novel since On the Road - and his most eagerly awaited. Begun in the mid-1950's, completed in 1961, and thereafter passed from hand to hand in the literary underground until the tattered manuscript reached the publisher in 1964, Desolation Angels already has a reputation as the candid in-group account of the key figures of the Beat Generation and of the crucial year that brought them together in San Francisco and Mexico in 1956-1957. Condition: Clean covers and spine with no stains; sharp corners. Tight binding. No cracks. No loose pages. The inside of the book is in terrific condition - clean, white pages with no writing, stains, foxing or tears found. The original dust jacket is in great condition - un-clipped showing original $5.95 price; clean with no stains; there are a few small tears along the perimeter. Overall in very good condition. Entwhistle Books, 1965. Condition: Very Good. This is a very good copy in very good d/w. The boards are lightly rubbed and bumped at the edges/corners but bright and clean. The bookplate of noted Australian fan and SF figure, Ron Graham, is affixed to the ffe as is a small sticker from his personal library. The d/w is slightly foxed at the very edges and has light wear mainly to the head and heel of the spine. Price is intact on the d/w. A nice association copy. This book will be sent Recorded Delivery in the UK and International Tracked & Signed Airmail overseas. Just one of a large number of SF hardcovers, paperbacks, pulps and fanzines I will be listing in the coming months. Always happy to combine postage. Please let me know you will be bidding on more than one item if they finish on different days. Please also WAIT before you pay until I have had a chance to send a combined invoice. Huge stocks of SF, Fantasy & Horror paperbacks, hardbacks, digest magazines, pulps and fanzines. Who are we? Just so you know - I am a fan. I have been reading and collecting SF, Fantasy, Mystery, Crime, Adventure & Horror for 45 years. I grade tight so hopefully you will be happy with your item. All main faults will be listed - inscriptions, price-clipped d/w's etc. Fine is our top grade for used material but if a review copy, or publisher's copy, is perfect we may call it 'new'. What do we like? We like hardcovers and softcovers (paperbacks), vintage and modern. We like proofs (ARC's) and review copies. We like modern authors and vintage - Robert E. Howard and H. P. Lovecraft. We like pul … [Click Below for Full Description]

ALLAIS (Maurice)
Roma (Vatican), Pontificiae Academiae Scientiarum, 1965. "The first part presents a general formulation of Capital theory; the second a model illustrating the general theory, the third confronts the model with the empirical data, and the fourth presents different applications. In the appendix, the model is studied for a very general case" (iMaurice Allais, "Abstract", p. 698). (New Palgrave, I, 118). Exemplaire tel que pa … [Click Below for Full Description]

Alighieri, Dante:
Rom, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana. 594 Seiten. Verlagsfrisch. Sehr selten! Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 0

Johnson, Ray (1927-1995)
NY: Something Else Press, 1965 ( 1964). After the trade publication of The Paper Snake, Dick Higgins created 127 copies of this special edition by emptying the contents of his letters from Ray Johnson into pale-blue envelopes 13.4 x 18.5 cm. These were them pasted inside the front cover of 127 books. The Fluxus and performance archivist and historian Barbara Moore participated in the assemblly line for this edition. She says that Ray Johnson was not happy about this use of his material, but here it is. Of the several copies I have seen, all the envelopes were detached. The contents varied wildly, from random notes, postcards, and fake letters on repurposed official stationery that had been discarded, to a very few actual artworks. This one is an outstanding example and one of the very best in the whole group. "Moticos," a word coined by Johnson is both singular and plural and is pronounced "mo-TEE-co." According to the Ray Johnson Estate, "The word "moticos" was coined by Johnson in 1955. Moticos is an anagram of 'osmotic,' a word chosen, according to Johnson, at random out of a book by Johnson and his friend, photographer Norman Solomon." I cannot provide the web address without running afoul of rules on certain sites, but it is easy to find. The book has [48] pp, filled with poems, lists, notes, aphorisms, and sketches, printed in several colors. Dark-green cloth. 26 x 21.4 cm. The dust jacket was price-clipped by the publisher. Its flaps contain an essay by William Wilson. The unique "moticos" is a small, painted and manipulated construction of strips of matboard painted … [Click Below for Full Description]

THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN EXTREMELY SCARCE 1ST STATE, 1ST/1ST UK EDITION IAN FLEMING Jonathan Cape of London 1965. FIRST STATE, First Edition, First Printing A extremely rare FIRST STATE of this title, with the scarce binding of the rare image of the golden "GUN" stamped in gold on the front boards of the book. The first state of this title is incredible rare with the prices in the $9500 to $18,000 range, based on condition! According to research, a decision was made, very early in the process, that to block the whole print run with such a large expanse of foil, would be financially prohibitive. ("According to the publisher's book production files the original estimate allowed for just four and a half square inches of foil-stamping [the executed design measured nearly nineteen square inches]. The decision to cease stamping a golden gun was purely economical." - Gilbert (Ian Fleming The Bibliography)).
