Kosinski, Jerzy
Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston 1965 - First edition. Octavo, original cloth. Inscribed on the half title page, "with every best wish, cordially, Jerzy Kosinski Sept. 1975." Fine in a very good dust jacket with a few small chips to the spine. The Painted Bird established Jerzy Kosinski as a major literary figure. Kosinski's story follows a dark-haired, olive-skinned boy, abandoned by his parents during World War II, as he wanders alone from one village to another, sometimes hounded and tortured, only rarely sheltered and cared for. Through the juxtaposition of adolescence and the most brutal of adult experiences, Kosinski sums up a Bosch-like world of harrowing excess where senseless violence and untempered hatred are the norm. Through sparse prose and vivid imagery, Kosinski's novel is a story of mythic proportion, even more relevant to today's society than it was upon its original publication. "A powerful blow on the mind because it is so carefully kept within the margins of probability and fact" (Arthur Miller). [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]

Serrano, Miguel
Santiago, : Zig-Zag, . Très bon état. Tres rare !! Signed and inscribed. Very rare !. Santiago, Zig-Zag, 1965. 8°. 247 pages. Édition originale, broché / Softcover. Très bon état. Tres rare !! Signed and inscribed. Very rare ! Miguel Serrano (10 September 1917 ?- 28 February 2009) was a Chilean diplomat, explorer, and author of poetry, books on spiritual questing and Esoteric Hitlerism. Serrano's anti-modernist neo-Gnostic philosophy claims to elucidate the extraterrestrial origin of the Hyperborean-descended Aryan race, image-bearers of the Godhead, and postulates a global conspiracy against them by an evil inferior godlet: The Demiurge, worshipped by the Jewish people, lord of planet Earth, spawner of the primitive hominid stocks, and author of all base materiality. Serrano foremostly synthesized the Hindu-Vedic and Nordic-Germanic religious traditions, both of which he considered to be of ancient Aryan-Hyperborean provenance, in addition to particularly esoteric and racialist interpretations of Buddhism, Christianity (or "Kristianism"), Luciferianism (not to be confused with Satanism), and Gnosticism. He was especially indebted to the Jungian theory of collective racial archetypes, borrowed heavily from Julius Evola in supporting a spiritual consideration of race, as opposed to a solely biological one, and followed Savitri Devi in recognizing Adolf Hitler as an avatar (a divine incarnation) who battled against the demonic materialistic hosts of the Kali Yuga. FLEMING, Ian
London: Jonathan Cape. 1965,, 1965. FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, being one of the rarest regular James Bond titles. The FIRST ISSUE has a 'Gun' gilt-stamped to the upper. 8vo., pp221. Publisher's cloth-effect paper over boards, in pictorial jacket. A very good copy with some dustiness and edgewear, plus a slight lean to the spine. The gilt on the gun is particularly bright (often found spotted or tarnished). A very good copy (slight lean) in similar jacket. Housed in a collector's leather box. The rare 'Gun' cover, which was dropped due to financial reasons after a small number of copies were produced and exported to the Colonies. Spurious copies are known, but first issues can be easily identified as, upon comparison, the initial cloth used has an entirely different pattern to the more common (plain) binding. A legendary James Bond high-spot. Gilbert A13a (1.1).

Merrill, Arthur A
Analysis Press, Chappaqua, New York, 1965. First edition. Octavo, original blue cloth. Limited to six hundred numbered signed copies. In fine condition. The signed limited edition is rare. Arthur Merrill is one of the most prominent stock market statisticians ever to practice the craft in the market. "There are few market patterns that occur with such unbelievable regularity that you must become aware of them . No one, to my knowledge, has engaged in more in-depth research than Arthur Merrill. Merrill's Behavior of Prices is an excellent work on the subject." This book concentrates on the profitable study of timing. The author has found the market to be similar to a warped roulette wheel. At certain predictable times, it has a definite bias upward; at other predictable times, the inclination is downward. A knowledge of this bias is useful to long-term as well as short-term investors in the improvement of buying and selling prices. The text is addressed to non-mathematical investors, and includes all of the suggestions for profit. In addition, serious students will find useful material in the appendixes. The pioneering work of Art Merrill in his classic book, The Behavior of Prices on Wall Street, clearly demonstrates the statistical reliability of pre-holiday behavior in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Merrill showed that the odds of a higher-price close on the day before major U.S. holidays were not only very high but also statistically significant. EVERGOOD, PHILIP
Philip Evergood writes to Sidney Hill regarding, among other things, Sidney's catalogue of his Charles Dana Gibson show. Sidney Hill was co-owner. at the time, with his brother, Henry, of Berry-Hill Galleries in New York. Henry and Sidney moved from London to New York during World War II and established Berry-Hill Galleries. While they were scholars of and dealers in antiquities and gold boxes, they became known in America for dealing in American art. Berry-Hill had an exhibition from October 1 - November 15, 1965 of "Charles Dana Gibson, 1867-1944: Creator of the 'Gibson Girl'," an exhibition of over 100 original Gibson black and white drawings from the artist's collection. Evergood says that he is a "great admirer of Gibson for in his smooth way he is a social satirist of great stature like George Grosz was in a savage way." Evergood says that he is not sure he will get to see the exhibition because of "my wife's broken arm" and "some of my own problems which include great pressures of work...." Evergood was with Dintenfass Gallery in 1963 and left them to join Ziunta Gerst's Gallery 63 in New York. He exhibited at Gallery 63 and in Rome at their La Galleria 63 during 1963 and 1964. But in 1965 "Gallery 63 suddenly closed without warning" as he tells Sidney in this letter. So, as he also tells Sidney, it was in 1965 that he then went to Hammer Galleries, owned by Victor Hammer. Evergood must have been preparing at this time for what would be his first one-man show with Hammer Galleries which occurred in 1967. He didn't stay long there, however, as, according to details in … [Click Below for Full Description]

A nice copy of a very hard book to find, especially when in a condition this nice and in the dust jacket.
