IAN FLEMING
1965. PRINTED UP IN VERY SMALL QUANTITIES OF ONLY 500 PIECES..First Edition, First Printing of the uncorrected proof for THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. Jonathan Cape, London, 1965:A clean and bright condition scarce Uncorrected Proof in printed green soft wraps accompanied by a superb custom quarter leather clamshell. UNCORRECTED PROOF THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING BY IAN FLEMING DEFINITION OF AN UNCORRECTED PROOF: In publishing jargon, a proof is the preliminary iteration of a book, intended for a limited audience. Its purpose is to allow for final edits. The proofs can also help to build and maintain buzz about a book before its official release date, generate some early reviews and have potential readers eager to get their hands on the title. A galley proof or uncorrected proof may still have errors or areas open to change. It is generally bound differently than the final product, often only spiral-bound, and missing much of the polish of the eventual published version, opting instead for plain, often coarse paper. Inclusion of proposed publication information (date, price, etc.) can also be included. Usually the proof consists of text only, and is devoid of any art or illustration that may be present in the final published version. If a book is successful and does well upon final publication, or if it goes out-of-print early but develops a fan-base or cult following, an uncorrected proof can become a valuable prize for collectors. Part of the appeal is their scarcity, and the fact that they will sometimes have slightly different text from the f … [Click Below for Full Description]

j.g. Ballard
Johnathan Cape, 1965. GREAT CONDITION. A REALLY NICE COPY OF THIS RARE BOOK MADE DOUBLY RARE BY BALLARD'S SIGNATURE some slight wrinkling to the front edge of the dust jacket and a square of slight discoloration on the spine as can be seen in the photos but that's it - usually the spine on these is very faded but the colour on this one remains strong - it's been kept in the dark! Wrapped in protective film. In contrast to Ballard's earlier novel The Drowned World, The Drought (The Burning World) describes a world in which water is scarce. After an extensive drought, rivers have turned to trickles and the earth to dust, causing the world's populations to head toward the oceans in search of water. The drought is caused by industrial waste flushed into the ocean, which form an oxygen-permeable barrier of saturated long-chain polymers that prevents evaporation and destroys the precipitation cycle. Johnson, Phyllis (ed)
Roaring Fork Press, 1965. Complete run from an original subscriber with all issues complete as called for [no item number 13 was issued for #10]. All the boxes have some light wear and scattered foxing [heaviest on the side of 5/6], small nick to the top of #2, the envelope for 6a is heavily chipped, but all of the contents are present. What started as a multimedia magazine produced to highlight the cultural and recreational offerings of Aspen Colorado took on a life of its own starting with issue three designed by Andy Warhol and David Dalton to resemble a box of Fab laundry detergent. From this point on, the magazine became an experimental artists' magazine ranging in theme from Minimalism to the Far East, all following the usual format of containing a multitude of items that included, flexi discs, pamphlets, and super eight films among other items. Barbara Rubin
1965. Item #4598 New York, 1965.Filmmaker and writer Barbara Rubin was born in the Cambria Heights neighborhood of Queens. Atthe age of 17, shortly after being released from a period of institutionalization in Connecticut, shebegan working for Jonas Mekas at the Filmmaker's Cinematheque, a fortuitous development thatallowed her to begin working on her erotic and transgressive first film, Christmas On Earth, filmedin the Lower East Side apartment of Tony Conrad and John Cale on Ludlow. There had never been a film like Christmas on Earth before, not least for a degree of sexualexplicitness rarely seen before in a film by a woman. Mekas stated "as the film goes, image afterimage, the most private territories of the body are laid open for us... a syllogism: Barbara Rubin hasno shame; angels have no shame; Barbara Rubin is an angel."During the next few years she was an active participant in the New York underground art scene, where she introduced Allen Ginsberg to Bob Dylan, and Andy Warhol to the Velvet Underground,at whose Exploding Plastic Inevitable Performances she both participated and projected her film,as well as organizing some of the first light shows in New York City. Rubin filmed the Velvets in anearly performance in 1965, however, the footage is now lost. She drew up plans for sequels to herfilm - Christmas On Earth Continued, and Christmas on Earth Continued Again, neither of whichwas filmed, making the scripts included her valuable documentation of unrealized work. One ofher synopses, sent to none other than Walt Disney, proposed a film in which Jean Genet, playingh … [Click Below for Full Description]

Peter Hill Beard
The Viking Press : New York. The End of the Game by Peter Beard First Edition, First Printing, 1965 This is a first edition, first printing of Peter Beard's highly photobook "The End of the Game" published by The Viking Press, New York in 1965. Focusing on the widespread destruction of the African elephant, Beard tells of the enterprisers, explorers, missionaries, and big-game hunters whose quests for progress and adventure were to change the face of Africa for ever. David Levi Strauss in "The Book of 101 Books: Seminal Photographic Books of the Twentieth Century" wrote, "In addition to being singularly beautiful, "The End of the Game" is thoughtful as well. Long taken a seminal book on wildlife conservation, it is actually an epic visual poem on the subject of the loss, especially the ultimate loss of life...The book is philosophical about the rapid despoliation of East African wildlife, especially the elephants. "Death", writes Beard in his introduction, "is the patiently awaited, unfeared fact of delicately poised African life." On its publication in 1965, Beard's book was immediately acclaimed, with not one but two glowing reviews in The New York Times. Featuring 75 black-and-white and color photographic plates along with numerous in-text illustrations and measuring approximately 11" x 9.5", the book is bound in gray cloth covered boards with a photographically illustrated dust jacket. The condition of the book is Near Fine with an ink inscription dedication. A very bright copy of this classic book. The plates are in incredible condition. Charles Bukowski
Loujon Press (Lyle Stuart, Inc.), 1965. Noel Rockmore. Original wraps. One of the scarcest of all Charles Bukowski limitations, #7 OF THE FIRST 10 ORIGINAL COPIES ISSUED BY LOUJON PRESS -- ALL 10 WITH A LETTER BY BUKOWSKI PASTED-IN BETWEEN THE SIGNATURE LEAF AND THE LIMITATION LEAF. AT THE TOP OF THE LIMITATION PAGE, JON WEBB (THE PRINTER, DESIGNER AND INSPIRATION BEHIND THIS REMARKABLE BOOK) HAS WRITTEN IN HIS HAND (IN RED PENCIL): "# Seven --of 10 copies with letter-- with white cover-- Jon Webb". The incredible 2 pg. letter, dated 1964 and very personal and detailed, clearly was written by Bukowski to Jon and Gypsy Lou Webb in anticipaption of this book. The letter is something of a fore-runner to his Black Sparrow "painted" books, showing large, angry strokes of paint (and/or magic marker) and it expresses, among other things, his worry that he won't have enough quality poems to do justice to as ambitious and attractive a book as "Crucifix in a Deathhand". (Presumably, Jon and Gypsy Lou made up their limitation of 10 copies with letters from Bukowski discussing "Crucifix in a Deathhand" while the idea was still in its infancy). And apart from the rarity of this limitation, this is a gorgeous, Near Fine to Fine copy, genuinely bordering on pristine. Tall quarto, internally immaculate, all the hues from the bright, multi-colored pages are vivid and completely unfaded. A major highspot in Bukowski collectibles and certainly one of the rarest obtainable copies of the first serious attempt to make an artistic, physically beautiful book out of a collection of Charles Bukowski … [Click Below for Full Description]
