Sylvia Plath
1950. Sylvia Plath set of 7 very early poem typescripts 1946 - 1954 Fine Sylvia Plath Fine Typescript of early poem "The Bronze Boy" c.1949 FineDescription Typescript of "The Bronze Boy" a very early Plath poem comprising fourteen lines, beginning: "Gold mouths are crying with the young...", with an autograph revision in the ninth line, with typed name and Haven House address, marked in pencil "90" "The Bronze Boy", is among the fifty printed by Hughes in Collected Poems, although under the title ʻGold Mouths Cry' and in a substantially different version. Ours starts: "Gold mouths are crying with the young/ Certainty of the bronze boy who stands/ naked in the garden; who lately sung/ Of how eternity lay in his hands..."; as against the published version: ʻGold mouths cry with the green young/ certainty of the bronze boy/ remembering a thousand autumns...' Of the early poems in general Ted Hughes writes in his edition of Sylvia Plath's Collected Poems (1981): 'At their best, they are as distinctive and as finished as anything she wrote later on. They can be intensely artificial, but they are always lit by her unique excitement. And that sense of a deep mathematical inevitability in the sound and texture of her lines was well developed early on. And one can see here, too, how exclusively her writing depended on a supercharged system of inner symbols and images, an enclosed cosmic circus... As poems, they are always inspired high jinks, but frequently quite a bit more. And even at their weakest they help chart the full acceleration towards her final take-off' (p. 16). MUNDO ATÓMICO" was a bi-monthly and … [Click Below for Full Description]

First UK Edition, First impression: A Near fine, crisp clean copy with a near fine dust jacket withOUT any of the typical fading to the spine. STRANGERS ON A TRAIN FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING BY PATRICIA HIGHSMITH The Cresset Press Ltd, 1950 First UK Edition, First impression A Near fine, crisp clean copy with a near fine dust jacket withOUT any of the typical fading to the spine. First U. K. edition of her first and best known novel brilliantly filmed by Alfred Hitchcock, although all-in her psychological thrillers led to more than two dozen film adaptations. "For eliciting the menace that lurks in familiar surroundings, there's no one like Patricia Highsmith" (Time). The success of Strangers on a Train allowed Highsmith to quit "hack" writing for magazines and devote her energies full time to fiction. "Her books evoke a quiet tension, a persistent apprehension, which is all the more terrifying and suspenseful for its aura of plausibility" (Vinson, 643-44). Crisp fine/near fine book in deep navy boards with bright unfaded gilt titles to the spine. The book has clean, vibrant cloth, still maintaining the original sheen, with no edgewear. The book has sharp corners a tight and square binding. The end papers are clean with no owner names, no book plates and no bookstore stamps. The internal pages are clean, crisp and flat with no marks, no writing, no bent pages, no age toning, no stains, and no handling marks. A few scant faded dots of foxing to very outer page block only. Beautiful crisp near fine book appearing as unread! Please see detailed images. The original unrestor … [Click Below for Full Description]

Ray Bradbury
The Martian Chronicles Ray Bradbury New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1950 First edition, first printing, in dust jacket, inscribed and dated by Bradbury Condition: Good plus Jacket Condition: Good plus This inscribed and jacketed first edition of Bradbury's first major work and enduring classic, The Martian Chronicles, is inked in blue in four lines on the title page: "BILL! | BEST FROM | RAY BRADBURY | OCT. 1966". First edition is so stated on the copyright page. Condition is good plus in a good plus dust jacket. The first edition's pale green cloth binding proved notoriously prone to toning and discoloration. This copy is square and tight with sharp corners and only trivial wrinkling to spine ends, but nonetheless modestly toned to the spine and also showing some mild staining to the boards, primarily at the midpoint of the spine and the rear cover. The contents are clean with no previous ownership marks apart from the author's signature. Trivial spotting appears confined to a few spots on the fore and bottom edges and at the lower rear endpaper verso and pastedown. The dust jacket is complete, with no appreciable loss and retaining the original "$2.50" price on the upper front flap. The spine is modestly toned and we note mild wear to extremities, hinges, and flap folds. The chief detraction is spotting and staining to the jacket verso, which permeated the jacket and is visible primarily on the white rear panel and flaps. Fortunately, the hues and design of the jacket's spine and front face make the staining unobtrusive. The dust jacket is now protected beneath a rem … [Click Below for Full Description]

Although the stories can be read separately, they share a theme of the interaction of humans, robots, and morality, and when combined they tell a larger story of Asimov's fictional history of robotics. ---------- About the Author ---------- Isaac Asimov (1920 - 1992) was an American author and professor of biochemistry at Boston University, best known for his works of s … [Click Below for Full Description]
