Hoffmann, Heinrich (photogr.); Pitter Gern; Dr. Dietrich
Diessen am Ammersee: Raumbild-Verlag Otto Schönstein, 1937. First edition. Hardcover. vg. Quarto. 62 (2) pp. interleaved with 8 sheets of heavy black card stock with 22 mounted b/w stereographs. Remaining 78 stereographs rest in lowered pockets inside of rear cover, stereoscope housed in lower pocket inside front cover. Original gold-stamped red cloth. Beveled edges. Binding protected by modern mylar. The National Socialist Reichsparteitage (in English usually referred to as the Nuremberg Rallies) were the annual rallies of the Nazi Party, held from 1923 to 1938. They were large propaganda events, especially after Hitler's rise to power in 1933. From 1933 until 1938 the Reichsparteitage were held in Nuremberg. Each rally was given a programmatic title, which related to recent national events. The b/w photographs by Heinrich Hoffmann document the 9th Party Congress in 1937, which was named "Reichstag der Arbeit (Rally of Work). The photographs feature Hitler in various situations, depict parades & ceremonies, presentations by the Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe, Arbeitsdienst, Hitler-Youth, mass rallies, Nazi officials, and Nuremberg city scapes. Text in German by Pitter Gern. Foreword by Dietrich. Minor wear and staining on cloth. Complete with all stereographs and stereoscope. Binding and interior in very good condition.

Manson-Enjalran, Clarisse
24+184+(4) pag., origineel karton, geillustreerd.

Storrs, Ronald, Diplomat (1881-1955)
London, 19. I. 11 SS. auf 11 Bll. 4to. 1876): [...] In the summer of 1913, Madame Edmond de Polignac, that great Renaissance Princess of the Arts, gave me a little yellow volume of poems entitled 'Les Vivants et les Morts'. On the cover she has scribbled a line from Anna - 'Schumann, ciel d'Octobre où volent des cigognes''. An officer on short leave from Egypt has no time for reading. With his eye fixed on the calendar and his ear frightened by the ticking of the clock, he can hardly take in a picture or listen through a Fugue, for 'At my back I always hear | Time's winged chariot hurrying near'. Besides this I will make bold to confess to you that in 1913 I had never heard of the Comtesse Anna de Noailles, as a poet or even as a person. I opened the volume one morning on my return to Egypt as the Austrian Lloyd steamer glided past the jagged mountains of Crete, and did not put it down until, oblivious of time, I had turned the last page [...]". - Storrs war u. a. britischer Gouverneur in Jerusalem, Nordrhodesien und Zypern. In seinen "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom" schrieb T. E. Lawrence: "The first of all of us was Ronald Storrs, Oriental Secretary of the Residency, the most brilliant Englishman in the Near East, and subtly efficient, despite his diversion of energy in love of music and letters, of sculpture, painting, of whatever was beautiful in the world's fruit [...] Storrs was always first, and the great man among us" … [Click Below for Full Description]
