Harrington, Jimmy
[?New York]: Privately Printed | Printed for the Art Guild Press, 1935. Side stapled. Illustrated wrappers. Some wear to wrappers, catalog clipping attached to inside front covers, else a good copy.. 8vo. 96 pp. An erotic tale profusely (and graphically) illustrated throughout, by an artist who may have been responsible for many of the 'Tijuana Bibles' produced at the same period. The last five pages contain additional cartoons and illustrations, concluding with one of a scatological nature. The same author is said to have written a work called Love in a Taxi, according to the title page. Story begins: 'Having spent fifteen years as a bellman in some of the largest hotels in the East and on reaching the age fof thirty-five I had made quite a bit of cash for myself and decided to retire.' On a visit to a book store, the author acquires copies of Fanny Hill, Town Bull, and Two Flappers in Paris; this inspires him to write his own memoirs, recalling things he has seen and done in his years of service. He recounts the sights of many erotic escapades, including traveling salesmen, lesbianscenes, etc., as well as bestiality (women with a deer and a monkey). Also, his own sexual coming of age and experiences. Taped to the inside front wrapper and the titlepage (which face each other) is a clipping from a mimeographed bookseller's catalogue advertising this work.

Fries, Jakob Friedrich:
Berlin: Öffentliches Leben, 1935. Reprint der Ausgabe Heidelberg, Winter 1828. X*, XXXI, 415 S.; 342 S.; X, 380 S. Originalleinen. Einband leicht berieben. [January 18, 1935]. Typed Manuscript Signed “Golda Meyerson” in Hebrew, three pages, 8” x 11”, separate sheets. [Eretz Yisroel, January 18, 1935]. On lightweight paper. Clip stains at upper right edge, light folds. Loose-leaf holes in blank right margin. Not translated. Fine condition.

Headed “Reminder of the Increase in Tourism in the Agricultural Industry.” Summarizing this report, Meir first gives six reasons for the increase in tourism. She writes that the agricultural industry is not prepared or able to cope with the number of tourists which hinder farmers from producing the quantities needed. There is a need to have some regulations regarding the tourism industry and a need to accommodate the different groups that come to Eretz Yisroel. There is also a need to construct housing to accommodate tourists. The tourism industry will be successful if the tour guides, the Jewish Agency, and the agriculture industry are coordinated.

On January 18, 1935, Meir wrote a letter to A. Kaplan at the Jewish Agency, enclosing this manuscript, telling him “I am sending a reminder on the problems we are having with the tourism industry in Eretz [Israel]. I wish that you review the policy and hope that we are able to build some housing…”

In 1928, Golda Meir was elected secretary of Histadrut’s Council for Working Women, which required her to spend two years (1932-1934) as an emissary in the United States. In 1934, when Meir returned to Eretz Israel, she joined the Executive Committee of the Histadrut and moved up … [Click Below for Full Description]

Lawrence T. E
London Jonathan Cape 1935. First published edition. Numerous black and white photos and drawings, maps. Thick, royal 8vo, publisher’s original polished buckram lettered and decorated in gilt, upper cover with crossed swords motif in gilt. In the publisher's original printed dustjacket. 672 pp. A very well preserved and handsome copy, internally clean and fresh, the brown cloth just a bit mellowed by time, still bright and strong. The scarce dustjacket with only light wear occasioned by time. SCARCE FIRST EDITION OF ONE OF THE GREATEST AND MOST PERSONAL MILITARY BIOGRAPHIES OF THE CENTURY. Lawrence, in relating the history of his involvement in the Arab revolt against Ottoman rule during the First World War, produced a true literary classic. Winston Churchill said of the book, "[It] ranks with the greatest books ever written in the English language." Its fame was further secured by Hollywood: "Lawrence of Arabia," starring Peter O'Toole, was based upon the book. This is a handsome copy of an enduring masterpiece. A personal narrative of the revolt of Arab armies against the Turks during the First World War, SEVEN PILLARS OF WISDOM stands as a monument of modern literature and history. Bernard Shaw described the book as one of the greatest of our time. All earlier printings were private and done with very low limitations on the printing, thus they are now very scarce. This is the first edition that was printed for general circulation. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]

(= biblioteka »jato«). Belgrad: Verlag der Autorengruppe »Jato« (Jugoslovenska Štampa, Zabreb) 1935. Gr.-8°. [1-8], 9-58 [59-64 (u.a. m. Bibliogr. d. „biblioteka »jato«"] Seiten. [Click Below for Full Description]
