Exquisitely bound in full white pigskin with superb design by Charles Ricketts tooled in blind and gilt on both covers and spine.         The Science of Political Economy, by Henry George, Author of ?Progress and poverty?.

New York and London: Continental Publishing Co. 1897 - Folio, (261x195mm); XIV, [15]-214 p.- // Encuadernación en tela con tejuelo; canto superior guillotinado y dorado, resto de cantos sin guillotinar; principalmente intonso; muy buen papel verjurado. Tejuelo perdido parcialmente, cofia y pie rozados. I have thought it the most useful thing I could do to drop as far as I could the work of propaganda and the practical carrying forward of the movement to do this."

Prijs: € 2.450,- (incl 21% BTW, excl. lijst).

        'CAPTAINS COURAGEOUS'

London: Macmillan, 1897. First edition. With 22 fine black & white illustrations on plates by I.W. Taber. 8vo, publisher’s original navy blue cloth elaborately lettered and pictorially decorated in gilt on both the spine and the upper cover in a maritime motif, a.e.g. viii, 245, 2 pp. ads. A very nice copy of this beloved story, the blue cloth bright and unfaded, the gilt on the front cover and spine both bright and quite perfect, the text block quite clean of the usual spotting with far less than is normally encountered, some light age evidence. A PLEASING FIRST EDITION OF THIS CLASSIC WORK. Kipling’s tale of a spoiled youth who becomes a man at sea is one of his best loved stories. Its themes are universal and timeless. It is also an excellent portrayal of life in the Gloucester fishing fleet of Massachusetts, written while the Kiplings were living in the United States. Though Kipling lived in Vermont for several years and was married to an American this is his only novel with entirely American settings, themes and major characters.

Japan.

(Text englisch) 2 Bde. à 32 x 40,5 cm, 616 Seiten, 259 farbige Reproduktionen, Rundumgoldschnitt, Leinen mit Goldprägung in Leinenschuber. Aufl. 1.000 Expl., handnummeriert. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
