Geo. H. Walker & Co.
1880. We are proud to offer maps from the atlas of Barnstable County, Massachusetts by George H. Walker & Co., 1880. As you probably know maps of Cape Cod towns are few and far between. Walkers atlas of Barnstable County is a great example of county atlases of this time period. The maps show landowners, streets, railroads, depots, wharfs, lighthouses, and much more. This map of Orleans also illustrates the Villages of Rock Harbor. All maps have beautiful, original water coloring. Each one would make a perfect Cape Cod gift. 16 x 25.5

[Click Below for Full Description]

John Wisden
Hi, This lot is an Original 1880 Wisden Paperback with facsimile spine. This is in Good to Very Good condition. The covers are nice and tall. There is a stain to the top right of the front cover that goes through to page 23 shrinking down each page. A nice new spine with text has been added (there isn't text on the 1880 original). Internally excellent apart from some spotting to the page block. New spine professionally added which makes the book readable and stops it falling apart.

Hampton, Wade
1880. Three-page handwritten letter on a single sheet of United States Senate stationery, dated March 3rd, 1880, marked "Private," and addressed to H.P. Kimball, Esq. Some splits along the folds, otherwise very nice condition, in an easily legible hand. The beginning of the letter responds to a request from Kimball for Hampton's help in securing a position in Washington for his son. Hampton replies that he is happy to help but not hopeful that it will lead to anything, given the proximity to the next presidential election. The remainder of the letter relates to Democratic Party politics and the election: "I agree with you that our approaching struggle will be a more momentous one. We can win if we only exercise sound judgement. If Grant is nominated as I hope he will be, we can defeat him if we select a proper candidate. Any of the prominent men named on our side, except Tilden, can carry the South - his nomination would render seven of these states doubtful, with the chances against us greatly. We must take some man who can carry the North to insure us the victory. My own opinion is that Bayard is our strongest man and I believe that he can carry N.Y., N.J., Conn. and Mass. against Grant. Put a good man from Inda. on the ticket as Vice President and we can even carry that state. We should consult freely to find out who is the strongest man and then ignoring for the present all questions as to finance, go in resolved to win. The people and Congress will settle the financial question, but the country cannot be at peace till we gain a democratic administration. We of the Sou … [Click Below for Full Description]

A book of discovery and exploration in the western United States of the 1870's describing terrain, geology, geography, cities, education and people. 528 pages includes maps, illustrations, tables and lists. A heavy book and is approximately 7 x 10 inches. Covers are original brown cloth with designs and scenes in black and gilt. Wear and scuffing to front and rear covers, and spine. Émile Zola
MAUPASSANT (Guy DE). [Click Below for Full Description]

We of the Sout … [Click Below for Full Description]
