Erschienen in Uylenspiegel, Nr. 26, vom 26. Juli 1857; Ramiro 113. Juli 1857 - ebenfalls in Paris - verstorben. [Click Below for Full Description]

Aufl. 1899, Nachdruck 1959; engl. Ausgabe 1907, Nachdruck 1974) u. a. auch ein Wörterbuch (1862-65) und eine Chrestomathie (1866) des Ge'ez. STANFORD, Edward
London: Edward Stanford, 1857. Map dimensions 35 x 48 cm, overall 38 x 53 cm. Folding plan with original colour marking out the city walls, the King's Palace, the old Fort and troop positions amongst other features, publisher's yellow printed title label to one folded end section and their matching advertisement to the other. Covers somewhat grubby, slight wear at the intersections of a few folds, some general soiling, else a decent copy of a fragile production. Published in the year of the Indian Mutiny, this was a highly topical cartographic account of the hostilities available to the British general public. Scarce. Copac shows only two copies, in the British Library and Oxford, Worldcat another three, in Michigan, Melbourne and Munich. Assuming the other copies were not backed on linen as here, one could assume that the map was a hastily manufactured edition to seize upon the huge interest in the Mutiny.

BAUDELAIRE (Charles)
… [Click Below for Full Description]

Paris: Poulet-Malassis & De Broise, 1857. Fine. Poulet-Malassis & De Broise, Paris 1857, 122x195mm, relié sous étui. - BAUDELAIRE Charles Les Fleurs du mal [The Flowers of Evil] Poulet-Malassis & De Broise, Paris 1857, 122 x 195 mm (4 13/16 x 7 11/16 ""), full morocco, custom slipcase First edition on vélin d'Angoulême paper, complete with the six censored poems. A superb Jansenist binding by Semet & Plumelle in deep red morocco, spine in six compartments, date gilt at foot of spine, gilt roulettes to head- and tail-pieces, black morocco pastedowns framed with gilt fillet, purple moiré silk endpapers, covers and spine preserved (upper cover and spine with traces of restoration work), gilt fillet to edges of covers, all edges gilt; slipcase edged with deep red morocco, marbled paper boards, lined with brown cloth. An exceedingly rare copy of the first issue, which as well as all the usual typographic errors of the first edition (""Feurs du mal"", pagination error and so on), also has a printing error on p.12 (""s'enhardissent"" for ""s'enhardissant""). Corrected from the start of the print run, this printing error only remains in an absolutely tiny number of copies. This copy is enriched with a manuscript correction by Baudelaire, who has crossed out the ""e"" and added an ""a"" in the margin, as if correcting proofs. This printing error, not in the corrected proofs in the collection of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, was due to the printers, who introduced a number of errors into this first quire, most of which were spotted before printing by Baudelaire, as this le … [Click Below for Full Description]
