Previously close to liberal theories, it is definitively off considering that economic liberalism, particularly by encouraging competition leads to lower production costs and incidental wages for workers. Faced with criticism raised by his views, Sismondi offers a second edition of his text and indicate in the notice have not been amazed at the reception of his book "I surprised myself the point of not having made an impression deeper [...] I was attacking orthodoxy, finally, dangerous business philosophy as in religion. " But after the success of his theories in the years after the first edition, it engages in this new edition to defend again "science that is responsible for ensuring the happiness of mankind."reference text for criticism of economic liberalism.         SAGGIO DI GEOLOGIA FOSSILE

1827. Tipografia del Seminario 1827 4° Pagine 1 cartab bianca + 348 + 1 carta bianca. Brossura editoriale a stampa in carta azzurrina. 7 tavole (su 8)incise in rame testo. Al frontespizio vignetta in rame con cartina del territorio Bellunese. Lievissime fioriture. Esemplare in barbe. Poggendorff, I 398; Bibl. Geol. e Paleont. Ital., n. 5194. Per i riferimenti al territorio bellunese cfr. Buzzati, Bibl. Bellunese, n. 873.

Flora Australasica; or a selection of handsome and curious plants, natives of New Holland and the South Sea Islands.

1827-28. 1827 - First edition. 56 hand-coloured engraved plates. Tall 8vo. Nineteenth century half purple morocco, gilt, some minor foxing. London, James Ridgeway, A very good copy of this handsome work. Sweet was a partner at the Stockwell Nursery and later worked at the nursery of Whitley, Brames, and Milne before being employed by Messrs Colvill. From 1818 he produced the five works that would ensure his posterity. Working under the influence of Joseph Banks, Sweet's book is distinguished in being the first to use live specimens, grown from seeds London nurseries. Each of the 56 plates are accompiend with 2pp of explanatory text. The plants are primarily from New South Wales, Kangaroo Island, Tasmania and King George's Sound. The specimens were drawn from collections at Kew Gardens, Sweet's former employer Whitley, Brames et al. Specimies were also compared with those at Josephine Bonaparte's collection at Malmaison. Robert Brown, naturalist on Matthew Flinders voyage, and later Joseph Banks's llibrarian, provided assistance. Despite Sweet's evident accomplishment, his career and health, were ruined by charges of stealing plants from Kew Gardens in 1826. Despite being acquitted of the charge, he left Colvills and devoted the next five years to producing botanical works, this being this first. Written at the height of his lunacy to the Highlander Society, in part: "...It has been six years since I published a legal proof which showed that Glengarry was the Chief of Clanronold; and that being the Senior House of the whole of Clan Donald...descended through Brighold, the eldest son from the Ancient Lords of the Isles, by the first marriage of his father; no descendent of 'Eain Muideortack,' the first Captain by commission could stand in competition with the Chief of that Clan..." With much insight into MacDonell having lost his seat at the Highland Society and the bitterness that remained between him and the organization. Also included is the original rare death notification mailed from the physician at hand to James Hamilton, Vice President, Highland Society, in full: "Col. Ranaldson MacDonell of Clanranald and Glengarry died at Fort Williams on Thursday this 17th Past," with proper postal markings and intact wax seal of Glengarry. Both items are in very good condition with natural folds and some wear; the letter has a 1.5-inch closed tear along one of the folds. Clan Chief of Clan MacDonell of Glengarry, and was also the personality well known to Walter Scott, a haughty and flamboyant man whose character and behavior gave Scott the model for the wild Highland clan chieftain Fergus Mac-Ivor in the pioneering historical novel Waverley of 1810. His erratic behavior included an incident whereby he pulled out a pistol at the Coronation of George IV. On January 17, 1828, acting very paranoid and delusional, he made an escape from a steamship, jumping from the ship, sustaining fatal injuries.

Andrew Jackson is Thankful That Pennsylvania "remains firm and immoveable" in its Support, and Extols the Constitution’s Guarantee of Religious Freedom

1827 - Autograph Letter Signed to the Reverend Ezra Stiles Ely, July 12, 1827. 2 pages with integral address leaf. "notwithstanding all the slanders that Power, and its panders, have wickedly invented, & circulated against me-Truth is Mighty & will prevail.""Amonghst the greatest blessings secured to us under our constitution is the liberty of worshipping god as our conscience dictates."Presidential candidate Andrew Jackson, in the running against incumbent John Quincy Adams, thanks a supporter for a positive report from Pennsylvania. Though Jackson doesn't detail the slanders against him, they undoubtedly involved his relationship to his wife Rachel. Opponents labeled the couple as adulterers; they were apparently unaware that her divorce had not been finalized when they married in 1791. Realizing the error, they re-married in 1794.The Reverend Ezra Stiles Ely had preached a July 4 sermon, "The Duty of Christian Freemen to Elect Christian Rulers." Jackson exhibits a remarkable degree of restraint here, as he acknowledges the solidarity of the different Christian denominations, and, at the same time, hews to the broader policy of religious freedom. Complete Transcript Hermitage, July 12th 1827-My Dear & respected Sir I have Just recd your letter of the 20th of June last, & thank you for your prompt attention to the business I took the liberty to request your attention. It is a source of much consolation to me, to be informed, that Pensylvania remains firm & immoveable, notwithstanding all the slanders that Power, and its panders, have wickedly invented, & circulated against me-Truth is Mighty & will prevail, & under this belief, I remain tranquil on my farm attending to my domestic concerns, believing that a day of retributive Justice will arrive. I feel grateful for the friendship of the Presbyterian brethren-Having been educated & brought up under the dicipline of the Presbyterian rule (my mother being a member of that Church) I have always had a preferrence for it. Amonghst the greatest blessings secured to us under our constitution is the liberty of worshiping god as our conscience dictates-all true Christians love each other, and while here below ought to harmonize; for all must unite in the Realms above; I have thought one evidence of true religion is, when all those who believe in the ample atonement of our crucified Savior are found in harmony & friendship together. My enemies have charged me with every crime but hypocracy; I believe they have never alledged this against me, & I can assure you no change of circumstances, or exalted office can work a change upon me; I will remain uniformly the same, whether in the chair of State, or at the Hermitage. My habits are too well fixed now to be altered. Mrs. J. desires to be presented kindly to you, your lady, & Mrs. Corswell, to all I write my kindest salutations, & believe me very respectfully your friend Andrew JacksonThe Revd. Ezra Stiles, Ely[Address leaf:] The Revd Ezra Stiles Ely Philadelphia.Ezra Stiles Ely (1786-1861), a frequent Jackson correspondent, was a controversial Presbyterian minister who preached from the Pine Street Church in Philadelphia. His assessments of female morality would play a key role in "The Petticoat Affair," which stemmed from the marriage between Secretary of War John Eaton and Margaret O'Neale, the daughter of a Washington boarding-house keeper. O'Neale's dubious reputation led to the couple's ostracism by the wives of other cabinet members, in particular Mrs. John C. Calhoun. The resulting split forced Eaton and several other members of Jackson's cabinet to resign, and left Jackson embittered with those he held responsible. Ely suffered his own reversals, being accused and acquitted of charges ranging from perjury to financial malfeasance.Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States, fought in the Revolutionary War while still an adolescent. He went on to study law, served as solicitor f. (See website for full description)

Colonel Campino, who had just been named president by a military coup, assures his fellow citizens that "jamás me habria puesto á la cabeza de la fuerza armada, si aun remotamente hubiese creido que al mas mínimo de los ciudadanos se iba de inferir el mas pequeño mal." The @Sublevacion de Campino (Mutiny of Campino) in January 1827 was a failed attempt to strengthen the power of the radical federalists by replacing President Agustín Eyzaguirre with Colonel Enrique Campino, brother of prominent liberal Joaquin Campino. Government troops put down the rebellion, but Eyzaguirre resigned at the end of January and Ramón Freire was named president.*** Briseño III, 117-8, no. 710: gives a transcription of the whole document and dates it to 1827, but describes it as an 8º.
