Faber du Faur 1176 (für die identische Titelauflage von 1703). Mit dem gleichen Paginierungsfehler. Im vorliegenden Exemplar fehlen die Blätter mit dem "Kurtzgefassten Inhalt eines jeden Capitels" ab Kapitel XX des 1. Buches. Ebenfalls fehlt das erste Textblatt (A1). Mit separatem Titelblatt für das 6. Buch sowie für "Simplicissimi Pralerey und Gespräng" - Titelauflage des ersten Bandes der 2. Gesamtausgabe von 1785 (vgl. Goedeke III, 254, 25), die in 3 Bänden erschien. Die Anzahl Kupfer variiert, scheint hier aber am vollständigsten zu sein. - Exemplar aus der Bibliothek von "Albrecht Friedrich von Erlach,Schloss Hindelbank (Wegmann 1840) und von Bernhard von Steiger (Wegmann 6804). Zusätzlich auf dem Vorderdeckel das Wappensupralibros der von Erlach. - Einband beschabt, Rückenschild mit kleiner Absplitterung. Papier wie immer durchgehend mässig gebräunt und zu Beginn etwas fingerfleckig. Das erste Kupfer alt hinterlegt, einige Kupfer mit Einrissen und kleinen Eckausrissen.

Romae, ex Typographia Ioannis Francisci de Buagnis 1701 - COSTANTINI, Francesco Maria. - Nacque in Venarotta (Ascoli Piceno) il 19 febbr. 1639 da Giovan Domenico, patrizio di antica nobilté marchigiana, e da Dea Massini, cugina del famoso giureconsulto ascolano Serafino Massini. Primogenito di dieci figli, ricevette in famiglia la sua prima educazione e frequenté poi le scuole secondarie nella vicina Ascoli. Nel 1658 fu ammesso al collegio Montalto di Bologna, ove compé brillantemente gli studi di diritto, manifestando subito la sua non comune perspicacia giuridica; nel 1661 si addottoré in utroque e ritorné ad Ascoli ove inizié la pratica legale presso lo zio Francesco Costantini. Nel 1667 si trasferé a Roma ove si fece presto conoscere ed apprezzare per la qualité della sua oratoria forense, per la perizia nel diritto e per la limpida onesté professionale. [xii], [10], [6], 352, [6]pp. Paris, A fine copy of this account of Ceylon, written by a Portuguese soldier Joao Ribeiro. Although his original manuscript was not published until 1836, the text was translated into French by M. l'Abbé Joachim LeGrand and published in Paris (as above). Arriving in Ceylon at the age of nineteen Ribeiro rose to the rank of Captain, fighting against both the armies of the King of Kandy and the Dutch who progressively took control of the island. Having been captured and imprisoned by the Hollanders Ribeiro returned to Portugal on his release, after 18 years in Ceylon. The fragmentary text "Hjalmar och Hramers saga" [The saga of Hjalmar and Hramer] was first conveyed to a Swedish audience through a dissertation by the student Lucas Halpap published in 1690 under the presidency of Johan Bilberg. Allegedly, the manuscript had been found at and bought from a farmer in the district of Rasbo in Uppland. As the only known runic manuscript at the time it attracted considerable attention and in 1694 it was acquired by the Swedish College of Antiquities. No later than 1701 the College's secretary Johan Peringskiöld published this edition with the whole manuscript in facsimile, his own brief commentaries and translations into Swedish and Latin. During the 18th century the authenticity of the manuscript increasingly was called into question and in 1774 the historian C. G. Nordin finally showed that it was a falsification.
