Cologne - Pierre Marteau, 1688. Boileau's history of thechurch in Franceand the prerogatives of the bishops of Rome. Boileau was a priest and doctor of theology at the Sorbonne. He was vicar of the diocese of Sens for twenty five years. He wrote several works on the history and practises of the Catholic church. Many of his works were published under pseudonyms. This particular work simply states that it is by 'a theologian'. Many of his works were written in Latin, but this is in French. Condition: In full calf. Externally rubbed, with shelfware to the extremities of the boards and to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, with a smallink inscription to the title page giving the author's name.
