Simmons. 1677 1st ed Yarranton England Improvement Economics Dutch Wars London Fires Beer Andrew Yarranton was a 17th-century English engineer who is best remembered for his improvements to English waterways, which eventually made them more navigable to sea goers. His waterway improvements, along with several other notable infrastructural upgrades. However, Yarranton also sought to improve England s economic status regarding the financial war with the Dutch. According to the DNB, this work was one of the first promoting inland navigation on rivers & canals, amongst other modern economic ideas (including the establishment of a national land registry). It was influential because it gave the economic arguments for such projects rather than the technical aspects of their construction. Descartes, Rene; Louis de la Forge
Michel Bobin & Nicolas le Gras. "Seconde Edition, 1677. Full leather, raised bands, gilt title and decorations at spine, clean unmarked text, illustrated, 511 pp. + "Table", Very Good copy, old bookplate on front pastedown, small ink notation on the verso of the flyleaf, some foxing and soiling to the text, some wear to the covers with loss to the tips and edges, some cracking to the leather at the spine, some soil/discoloration to the covers too. Text in French. A rare book. Our copy housed in protective glassine. Descartes considered the human body a material machine, directed by a rational soul located in the pineal body. This book was the first attempt to cover the whole field of "animal physiology." The work is really a physiological appendix to his Discourse on method, 1637, first appeared in full in 1664, this time in French. This is the corrected second edition from 1677. Very Good.

s.l.n.d. (17e siècle), 1677. MANUSCRIT in-4. 54pp. 2ff.
