Galilei Galileo
Firenze, Giovanni Battista Landini, 1632. In 4to (mm. 219x161). Pp. [8], 458, [34]. Segnatura: [π]4A-Z8 Aa-Ee8 Ff6 Gg-Kk4. [Click Below for Full Description]

Barwick, Norfolk: (1632). Barwick [in the district of King's Lynn, Norfolk], 24 December 1632. Unique and early manuscript indenture on vellum, concerning multiple feoffment lands and messuages belonging to John Barritt of Barwick, Norfolk, 65 acres combined in medieval terms, situated in Barwick, Stanhoe, and North Creake, being granted to his son under the circumstance of marriage. Document measures approximately 48 x 42 cm, with wax seal affixed to a vellum pendant which features diminutive manuscript writing possibly in Latin. Some age-toning, otherwise in very good condition, with a unique wax seal, John Barritt the elder's original signature, beautifully preserved, a fascinating surviving land title document from seventeenth century England. A superb surviving record of early Norfolk land ownership, this is an exceptionally scarce and therefore historically significant document. The lands being dealt with and changing hands with this document are in the district presently known as King's Lynn and West Norfolk. According to the indenture, the region was referred to as the County of North Fiefdoms of Norfolk in the seventeenth century.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Very Good

Geneva: Petrum and Iacobum Chouet, 1632. Front off and Ex-Library with Attendant Markings. Fold Out Maps. Interesting History of Ancient Rome with illustrations and fold out maps. One map depicts the Ancient Rome and has a wood-cut border while the other is a pan for the First Legion's battlefield camp. Lots of illustrations of coins and so forth throughout. A very large book well worth restoring for the rarity of the content and the uniqueness of the illustrations. Ovid / G S
Oxford: Imprinted by John Lichfield, 1632. Condition: Very Good binding. Though published in London, Sandys' translation of Ovid's Metamorphosis was written during his time as the treasurer of the Virginia Company in America, and is thus considered "the first utterance of the conscious literary spirit articulated in America," as all previous original literature penned in the colonies were for immediate, practical purposes [Tyler, A History of American Literature, 1607-1676, p. 54]. Sandys was conscious of Ovid's connection between the Ancient World and the New World: "Sprung from the Stocke of the ancient Romanes; but bred in the New-World, of the rudeness where of it cannot but participate" [from the Dedication to King Charles I]. This being the First Illustrated Edition of that work, with thirteen engraved plates, including the frontispiece, and an additional engraved title. Lacking the engraved plates at the start of chapters nine, thirteen, and fifteen; the plate for chapter twelve is present, but misbound at just before the end of chapter eleven. The "Essay" is actually a translation of the first book of the Aeneis; the full translation was unfinished and the project abandoned by the time of publication. With all points given by the ESTC, and the 3-line initials on the Errata page denoting both the preliminaries and quire Vvv were printed by William Stansby in London. Modern binding and endpapers. Half brown calf over tan cloth boards, with a black morocco label and lettering stamped in gilt. PEREZ (Antonio).
En Barcelona, por Pedro Lacavalleria, 1632. in-4. 2ff. 270pp. (i.e.272). 5ff. Palau, 60332. [Attributes: First Edition]
