SAVONAROLA Girolamo (SAVONAROLA Hieronymus)
[Click Below for Full Description]

LIUTPRAND von Cremona ( - Liudprand - Liutprandus Cremonensis - Ticinensis ) -
Paris, Badius Ascensius & Jean Petit 1514. Folio. (4), 42 Bll., zahlreiche Holzschnitt - Initialen (davon 8 große: eine 14-zeilig, sieben 10-zeilig), Titelbordüre (Nr. 1 / s. Renouard Asc. [Click Below for Full Description]

Woodcut, edited anno 1493 in Harmann Schedel, Nuremberg Chroncikle, latin edition, size: 45 x 65 and 20 x 52 cm., good condition, little waterstained, some small restored holes in the centerfold. PEURBACH, Georg and Johannes REGIOMONTANUS [Johann MÜLLER]
[colophon: Vienna, Winterburger for Leonard and Lucas Alantsee, 1514]. Folio (313 x 215 mm), ff [67] XIX, pp 90 [2], with two astronomical woodcuts on title, 3 woodcuts in text, ornamental woodcut initials and woodcut Imperial coat-of-arms on colophon leaf; title with some marginal dustsoiling, some very faint marginal waterstains on upper outer corner in the second half of the text, a small wormhole in a couple of gatherings touching a few letters, otherwise an exceptionally fresh, crisp, and large copy, with some sheets preserving their deckle, in its original binding of a rubricated missal leaf, with antiphonal chants and notations, binding very worn.First editions of Peurbach's eclipse tables and tables of the first sphere by his student Regiomontanus, both edited with commentary by Georg Tannstetter. This work also includes one of the earliest histories of European astronomy.'Recognized throughout the sixteenth century as a monument of industry, the Tabulae eclipsium, completed probably in 1459, is Peurbach's most impressive work and was still used (although critically) by Tycho near the end of the sixteenth century . The tables are based entirely on the Alphonsine Tables, in that the underlying parameters are exclusively Alphonsine; but Peurbach expanded and rearranged the tables needed for every step in eclipse computation, saving the calculator much time and relieving him of a number of tedious procedures. The tables in the printed version run to fully 100 pages . Most remarkable, and evidently most laborious to compute, are the forty-eight-page double-entry tables … [Click Below for Full Description]

Tuberinus, Johannes (Johannes Beuschel).
In Inclyta urbe Lipsica [Melchior Lotter the Elder, Leipzig]: ., 1514. ff. 360 (of 361) leaves. Lacks folio Fii (but with xerox facsimiles inserted). First signature detached, and somewhat browned. The title is printed in red and black, and has a central woodcut depicting Mount Parnassus, with the Muses, Bacchus and the temples of Delphi and Apollo. On the verso of the title page are the large woodcut arms of George, Duke of Saxony, showing a powerful knight in frontal view. This woodcut is dated 1514 in the banderole at the knight's head. The blank bottom 2.5" of the title have an old repair. Printed with wide margins in the text, and throughout there are marginal and interlinear Latin notes and comments in black ink by at least two sixteenth-century hands. (The manuscript notes here might reward better scholars than we are with interesting revelations). Folio. 330 mm. Highly decorated and tooled half alum tawed vellumized pig skin over oak boards binding. The spine covering is gone, revealing four double cord raised bands, and remains of an early manuscript used as binder's super. Clasps perished but the brass receivers on the front board are present. Johannes Beuschel was a German neo-latin poet and teacher at the Leipzig university. Probably born at Rothenburg ob der Tauber in the 1470's. From 1504 (and many years thereafter) he was a reader/professor of neo-Latin poetry. He probably died in Leipzig in 1522. Other names associated with him are: Erythropolitanus - Rotenburgensis; Johannes Tuberinus; Johannes Beusselius; Johannes Peussel or Pewschel; etc. He should not be … [Click Below for Full Description]

STROZZI (, Ercole & Tito "Vespasiano")
Venice, Aldus & Asolanus 1513 (following the Venecian calendar; according to the usual European calendar 1514). 8vo. (8), 99 lvs., (1) leaf, 152 lvs. With Aldus’ device (Fletcher Nr. 5) on title and last leaf verso. 16th century gilt-stamped vellum (darkened, soiled, rubbed); new end-papers and fly leaves, lacking ties. First Aldus edition of Strozzis’ poems, first edition of most of the complete works; scarce. PROVENENCE: The reverse of the title page has an autograph in the form of a six-line dedication to the two Strozzis from Daniel Finus; leaf A8 verso also has a longer laudation to Aldus Manutius by him written in manuscript. Both were published only in the 20th century (A. della Guardia: Tito Vespasiano Strozzi. 1916, p. LVIII, and S. Pasquazi, Poeti estensi. 1966). Daniele Fini, born in Ferrara 1470, son of an Fini „Hadrianus" Fino. Like his father before him, he took on political functions in his home city (Chamberlain and University Chancellor) but his main interest was literature. His principle writing activities were chiefly in composing poems in Latin and Italian (see Michaud XIV, 138 and Barotti / Barotti / Baruffaldi: Memorie istoriche de letterati Ferraresi. Vol. I. p. 133 ff). He was a member of Ferrara's humanistic circle and was one of Strozzi's closer friends. The copy of the work here is very likely to be a VOLUME OF DANIELE FINI'S POSSESSION, in which he wrote his poems. FOR FULL DESCRIPTION PLEASE VISIT ON OUR WEBSITE "THE SPECIAL OFFER". The decoration of the binding presents an outer frame with a closely set, slightly spirally winding pattern, copie … [Click Below for Full Description]

Gran für J. Rynmann in Augsburg 1521. 4°. 164 Bll. Blindgepr. Schweinsleder d. Zt. [Click Below for Full Description]
