The Atlas of Functional Anatomy for Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine contains more than 1500 images of unsurpassed quality, most of which have never been published, including scanning electron microscopy images of neuronal ultrastructures, macroscopic sectional anatomy, and three-dimensional images reconstructed from patient imaging studies. Each chapter begins with a short introduction on the covered subject but then allows the images to embody the rest of the work detailed text accompanies figures to guide readers through anatomy, providing evidence-based, clinically relevant information. Beyond clinically relevant anatomy, the book features regional anesthesia equipment (needles, catheters, surgical gloves) and overview of some cutting edge research instruments (e.g. scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy). Of interest to regional anesthesiologists, interventional pain physicians, and surgeons, this compendium is meant to complement texts that do not have this type of graphic material in the subjects of regional anesthesia, interventional pain management, and surgical techniques of the spine or peripheral nerves. -

Ptolemy/ Ruscelli Claudius (1500 - 1566)
Artist: Ptolemy/ Ruscelli Claudius ( - 1566 ) ; issued in : Venice; date: 1564 1500 - - technic: Copper print; colorit: original colored; condition: Very good; size (in cm): 18,5 x 25 - description: Map shows Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Prussia.Map of Lettland, Estland and Prussia, partly Lithuania. Ruscelli's Atlas is an revised edition of Gastaldi's Atlas of 1548. It is generally assumed that Alessio Piemontese was a pseudonym of Girolamo Ruscelli (Viterbo 1500 ? Venice 1566), he was a humanist and cartographer. - vita of the artist: Girolamo Ruscelli (1500s-1566) was an Italian polymath, humanist, editor, and cartographer active in Venice during the early 16th century. Ruscelli is best known for his important revision of Ptolemy's Geographia, which was published post humously in 1574. It is generally assumed that Alexius Pedemontanus was a pseudonym of Girolamo Ruscelli. In a later work, Ruscelli reported that the Secreti contained the experimental results of an ?Academy of Secrets? that he and a group of humanists and noblemen founded in Naples in the 1540s. Ruscelli?s academy is the first recorded example of an experimental scientific society. The academy was later imitated by Giambattista Della Porta, who founded an ?Accademia dei Secreti? in Naples in the 1560s. Claudius Ptolemy (arround 100- 160 a.C.) Geographia, gives a list of geographic coordinates of spherical longitude and latitude of almost ten thousand point locations on the earth surface, as they were known at his times. The list is organized in Tabulae which cor- respond to specific regions of the three … [Click Below for Full Description]

DIANA SCULTORI

Niello, 1500 circa. Magnificent work, printed on contemporary laid paper without watermark, in excellent condition. The niello is a particular technique to work metals; is a kind of engraving with a decoration on a black background realized through a mix of copper, silver, lead and sulphur. The niello started in Florence, in the XV century, the history of Italian engravings, straight from the Florentine tradition of goldsmiths. Passavant described it in his Duchesne catalogue, in 1828. Excellent example of a rare work. Bibliografia: Passavant I, p. 287, 459; Dutuit II, p. 111, 30. Dimensioni 40x40. 40 40

BENIVIENI Girolamo
in-folio, (290 x 210 mm), ff. [Click Below for Full Description]

PARIS ARTIST.
Paris: circa, 1500. Fine illuminated leaf, 165 x 109 mm., double-sided, with a fine miniature of St Matthew, 42 x 40 mm., with three-quarter ornamental border divided into geometrical compartments, with blue and gold acanthus and coloured flowers and leaves; one 2-line illuminated initial C, 19 lines in a lettre bâtarde; mounted. A fine leaf from a late-fifteenth-century Parisian Book of Hours with a delicate miniature of St Matthew, introducing the gospel reading from Matthew (2:1-12), 'Cum natus esset Jesus in Bethleem in diebus Herodis regis, ecce Magi ab Oriente venerunt Hierosolimam... ' ('When Jesus was born in Bethlehem in the days of King Herod, behold, there came wise men from the East to Jerusalem... ').The miniature is rendered in a style close to the Master of Philippe de Guelders. The evangelist sits in robes of blue and pink writing his gospel in an open book on his lap, which he copies from a manuscript held up for him by a white-clad, youthful angel (the symbol of Matthew as one of the four evangelists).

GERMAN SCRIBE.
Germany: circa 1400-, 1500. Bifolium on vellum, 458 x 318 mm. (each leaf), each leaf written in double columns of 32 lines, ruled with ink, dark brown ink with rubrics and brown ink initials, two with decorative penwork, capitals touched with red, full margins. original sewn repairs in lower margin, a couple of original marginal creases; in fine original condition. A handsome bifolium leaf from a large lectern manuscript. The decorative penwork initials, in one instance forming a human profile, are characteristic of the German style of this period. Large volumes, like the one from which these pages derive, were introduced by the Carolingians and eventually replaced the multi-volume sets required for the performance of religious observances: A proliferation of private chapels with minimal staff and a burgeoning quantity of regular observances, often paid for by the donations of the faithful, necessitated a streamlining of the religious process.Complete bifolia are rare on the market, and this one, with particularly wide margins and in a fine gothic script, is particularly impressive. Another leaf from this impressive manuscript is in the Shøyen Collection, Oslo and London. Original sewn repairs in lower margin, a couple of original marginal creases; in fine original condition.
