Maître Louis Merle (Ludovicus Meruli), docteur en droit civil et en droit canon, bourgeois d'Avignon, est mis en possession d'une maison ou hôtel (hospitium) sise à Mazan, diocèse de Carpentras, rue Coste-Cate, pour la somme de 120 florins, à l'issue d'un procès devant la Cour Suprême du Comtat-Venaissin. Représenté par son procureur, Pierre Tournier (Petrus Turneri), il en reçoit l'investiture par le seigneur du lieu, Honoratus Astrandi, écuyer, qui lui donne quittance du droit de lods et ventes (laudimium) et du treizain. Joli seing manuel du notaire Trophime Evrard (Trophimus Esberardi). L'acte, établi dans la maison de Nazaire Villars (Nazarius Villaris), est en outre daté de la sixième année du pontificat d'Alexandre VI.

(spine expertly renewed, corners worn, clasps wanting, a number of small round wormholes in binding & text). Sixth Edition, the first to be printed outside of Italy. Filelfo, one of the greatest humanists of the Italian Renaissance, first lectured at Florence, but when animosity developed between himself and Cosimo de' Medici and his friends, he accepted an offer of employment from the state of Siena for four years, and then another from the Duke of Milan, Filippo Maria Visconti. In Milan it was Filelfo's duty to celebrate his princely patrons in panegyrics and to salute them with nuptial and funeral orations, most of which are found in the present volume. In addition there are several other works including his translations of Plutarch's two collections of apophthegms (Ad Traianum and Laconica) and of Aristotle's Rhetorica ad Alexandrum Regem.
