printed [by C. H. Reynell] for John and Henry L. Hunt, London 1824 - 8vo. [230 x 140 x 30 mm]. xi, [i], 415,  pp. Bound c.1900 by Zaehnsdorf (signed in gilt on front doublure and with stamp in gilt on rear free endleaf) in brown goatskin, the covers tooled in gilt with a single fillet border and a panel of seven fillets entwined with leafy stems. Smooth spine lettered in gilt with long leafy stems, the edges of the boards tooled with a gilt fillet, turn-ins and matching inside joints tooled with nine gilt fillets and doublures of burgundy goatskin with a large floral onlay of green, white and tan goatskin tooled in gilt, red silk endleaves with a gilt fillet border, top edge gilt, the others uncut. (Rebacked preserving original spine, a little rubbed). Bound without the errata leaf, which was probably produced after the book had begun to be circulated. Occasional light browning but a very good copy, with uncut edges, in a fine binding by Zaehnsdorf. The Preface was written and signed by Mary Shelley. [Attributes: First Edition]
