Manual devoto para assistir ao Santo sacrificio - - 1794.
Lisboa: Regia Officina Typografica, 1794. (188), (4)pp. "Ultima impressão mais accrescentada." Illustrated with eight engraved plates, six of which are printed in sanguine and two printed in blue. Apparently unrecorded Portuguese devotional, similar in size to Welsh 4792, only the present copy is two years earlier and bears a different imprint. The single recorded institutional copy is slightly larger than this one (78 mm. versus 71 mm.), and bears a much later date. Although Portuguese publishers regularly produced near-miniature almanacs during this period, true miniatures tend to be quite uncommon. Personal religious books, such as this devotional, would have seen extensive use in a predominately Catholic country, making the survival rate for such works even slimmer. Although lacking front and rear endleaves (decorative and blank), the book is complete, and retains a contemporary binding of dark red calf with elaborate gilt tooling on covers and spine. Gilt is largely rubbed, and the somewhat flexible boards show signs of creasing. Overall a sound copy of an extremely uncommon Portuguese miniature.
