Meet Me in St. Louis - Benson, Sally - 1942. [1200681]
New York: Random House, 1942. Stated First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good+. Beautiful first edition, first printing (stated "First Printing" on copyright page), in original unclipped dust jacket. Clean dark blue and deep red cloth boards with narrow gold horizontal stripe on cover, gold lettering on spine. No fading, fraying or wear. Binding is tight and square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with clean blank endpapers. No names, writing or marks. Clean red top-stained upper page edges. 290 pages. Dust jacket is not price clipped (2.50 on front inside flap), clean, a little surface wear at top and bottom spine ends, very small brown tape marks near bottom of rear panel, small surface scrape at top corner of rear inside flap. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Amazingly hard to find in this condition -- clean, unfaded, unmarked and solid in a highly presentable original dust jacket. Basis for the film of the same name (1944) starring Judy Garland, Mary Astor, and Margaret O'Brien. In the year before the 1904 St Louis World's Fair, the four Smith daughters learn lessons of life and love, even as they prepare for a reluctant move to New York.
