Hoxse served on the “Constellation” under Truxton during the Quasi War with France and lost his right arm during a battle with “Le Vengeance.” An uncommon book with realistic accounts of sea battles and activities during the Quasi War. Smith II, 1141 Howes H744, Harbeck p. 12. Bound in original blindstamped cloth with engraved cover label. A chip missing from the upper left corner of the front board, and the binding shows some sunning and light wear, but this is quite a nice copy of a rare book. In protective clamshell box.
