Macmillan, London 1919 - 22 (of 24) volumes. Uniformly bound in contemporary brown 3/4 leather. 23cm. The title-page each volume is preceded in reverse order by a frontispiece, a half-title and a "Wessex Edition" title-page. Some foxing and browning (mostly confined to frontises, title-pages and other leaves at beginning and end of volumes). An attractive set. Includes Vols. I-XVIII (complete) of Prose and Vols. I-IV (of 6) of Verse. Vols. I and II of the Prose series are 2nd printings of the Wessex Edition, being dated respectively 1917 and 1919; all other volumes in this set are first Wessex Edition printings being dated 1912 (Vols. III-XVII of Prose and Vol. I of Verse), 1913 (Vols. II and III of Verse), 1914 (Vol. XVIII of Prose) and 1919 (Vol. IV of Verse). The two missing volumes of verse were the last two issued in the set (and presumably after this set was purchased) -- Vol. V (Late Lyrics and Earlier, and the Famous Tragedy of the Queen of Cornwall) in 1926 and Vol. VI (Human Shows and Winter Words) in 1931.
