Thomas Seltzer, USA 1922 - 1st Edition 1922. True 1st printing Lawrence sixth novel. Aaron's Rod is a picaresque novel set in England and Italy shortly after the conclusion of WWI. It tells the story of Aaron Sissons, a secretary and flautist who decided to leave his family and social life in order to travel and pursue a career as a professional musician. The novel's title refers to the Biblical character Aaron, the brother of Moses who uses his rod to prove the power of God to the Egyptian Pharaoh prior to the plagues of Egypt, represented in this novel by Sisson's flute. Precedes the UK secker version. Book is very good++ and bright. Spine slightly darkened. Contents good. Bookplate to endpaper. The wrapper is very good+ and bright. Light edge rubbing. Small loss to spine top. Wrapper age toned but essentially a bright example of a scarce wrapper. More images available upon request.
