Magnificent rarity, Stalin lovingly signs and inscribes his daughter's colorful artwork, a WWII vessel named after Lenin!
n.p., c. mid-1930s. 7.25" x 5.5". "Autograph Note Signed ""I. Stalin"" in pencil on a 7.25"" x 5.5"" multicolored pencil drawing. In Russian. Rough left edge, tip of lower right corner missing. Fine condition.Signed Drawing in pencil by Stalin's daughter Svetlana, whom he called Setanka. In Russian, across the top: ""Drawing by Setanka - Housekeeper."" Stalin has written ""Good / Excellent! / Secr[etary] of Setanka. I. Stalin."" Not dated, but circa mid-1930s. Multi-colored 4.75"" long pencil drawing of a Soviet ship at sea. Red flag at right lettered ""C.C.C.P."" (""U.S.S.R."" in Russian). Penciled in Russian on the bow is the name of ship, ""ILICH"". Vladimir Lenin's birth name was Vladimir Ilich Ulyanov. English historian Robert Service wrote in Lenin: A Biography (London: Macmillan, 2000) ""Ilich - Respectful nickname for Lenin, used mainly inside the party. "" During World War II, on June 24, 1944, the Soviet Cargo/Passenger Ship Ilich, built in 1895, sank alongside its berth in Portland, Oregon, in the course of shipyard repairs.Svetlana Alliluyeva Stalin (1926-2011) was Joseph Stalin's youngest child and only daughter. Alliluyeva was her mother?s last name. In 1967, Svetlana defected and became a naturalized citizen of the United States. In They Perished 'Like Shadows' by Svetlana Alliluyeva, in the September 22, 1967 issue of LIFE magazine, she writes, ""My father signed all his letters to me the same way: 'From Setanka-Housekeeper's wretched Secretary, the poor peasant I. Stalin ... In English, her father?s first name was spelled ""Iosef,"" ""Josef,"" or ""Joseph."""
