Illustrated with 28 splendid colored engravings after illustrations by Baron Franz von Dingelstedt, Johann Zwecker, Carl Kurtz, this magnificent volume is not only a work of art which celebrates the beauty and nobility of the Arabian horse, but it is a work which also shows the close connections that existed between W?rttemberg and the Orient. This facsimile edition of a work originally published in 1846, contains the following: - A 18 1/2 x 11 3/4" photo-illustrated book, with a Preface hand-signed by Carl, Duke of W?rttemberg; a poem by Baron Franz von Dingelstedt, and texts by Rainer Michael Sachadae and Betty Finke. - 28 tissue-guarded colored plates after striking illustrations by Baron Franz von Dingelstedt, Johann Zwecker, and Carl Kurtz. Each plate is captioned at lower margin and at verso, and measures appr. 18 1/2 x 23 1/2" (image size at center varies). The stunning illustrations depict various scenes during the Caroussel and following festivities held at the W├╝rttemberg Crown Prince court on October 27th, 1846. Text in German, English and Arabic. Slipcase, wrappers, interior, and plates in near fine to fine condition.
