1747 - Stockholm, L. Salvius, 1747. 8:o. (38),479 pp. & 1 folded engraved plate. Title printed in red and black. Contemporary calf with raised bands and tan morocco label, covers decorated to a mirror design. Marbled edges. Cover decoration oxidized. First edition of this mineralogical work which earned its author some international fame. Wallerius would later be regarded as the founder of agricultural chemistry as a field of research. The book was translated into German, French and Russian. The signature probably belongs to Erik Geisler (1720-73), who was markscheider at the Falu mine in Middle Sweden and who made a new map of Stora Kopparberget, Sweden's most important copper mine, in 1753. He was the grandfather of the renowned Swedish author E. G. Geijer. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
