Le Morte D'Arthur.
London: Philip Lee Warner publisher to the Medici Society Ltd,, 1910–11. The Book of King Arthur and of his Noble Knights of the Round Table. 4 volumes, quarto (265 x 197 mm). Contemporary red morocco by James Macdonald co., titles to spines gilt in compartments, trefoils blocked in blind to covers, top edges and gilt, others untrimmed, turn-ins gilt, marbled endpapers. Title pages printed in blue and black, colour frontispieces and 44 colour plates, all with captioned tissue-guards. With the small red morocco gilt bookplates of William Armistead Moale Burden (1906–1984) to the front pastedown. Burden was the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belgium from 1959 to 1961. Bookbinder's and bookseller's stamps to head of front free endpaper versos. A couple of faint scratches to boards; an excellent set. Limited edition, number 66 of 500 copies printed on handmade Riccardi paper; a further 12 copies were printed on vellum, 10 of which were for sale. A richly illustrated edition of Malory's classic, for which Flint was awarded a silver medal at the 1913 Paris Salon. With the preface by William Caxton's for his 1485 edition.
