Covici and Friede, New York 1938 - 147 pp. Fine copy in a very nearly fine dust-jacket, with a tear near head of spine, one unfortunate chip missing from the front of the dj and a few minor splits, some darkening in gutters but very attractive copy in blue cloth boards. The author's second book. Rukeyser established her career as a poet and political activist at an early age (her first book, which won the Yale Younger Poets award appeared when she was 22). Rukeyser's activism spanned from the Spanish Civil War to Viet Nam, and her work has been significantly praised by poets from Kenneth Rexroth to Adrienne Rich. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
