GODS GOODNESSE IN CROWNING THE KING. GOD AND THE KING. THE SERVANT'S AUDIT. NO HOME BUT HEAVEN. EDMUND Earl of Mulgrave.
G. Bedel and T. Collins 1659 to 1664, London - 12mo, Pagination: pp. [12], 65, [1]; [6], 70; [22], 60; [6], 66, [6]; [14], 62; with two armorial vignettes and one armorial plate. A collection of five sermons, three in the form of eulogies, and printed for the Fleet Street booksellers G. Bedel and T. Collins, and published by them between 1659 and 1664, all ostensibly authored by Boteler, the brief entry about whom, in the Dictionary of National Biography, indicates that he died in 1670, and was a divine, fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge, king's chaplain 1660, and prebendary of Lincoln, 1665. The first of the sermons was published in 1662 to celebrate the coronation of Charles II (Boteler was, apparently, a Royalist, as he was ejected from Cambridge during the interregnum). The original boards, and spine, are no longer present, but the binding is still tight. Signature of "John Todd" Nov. 19, 1829 on first blank leaf. Summary in "copperplate" of contents on third blank leaf. Neat underlining, in early hand, to some pages. The foredges are a bit thumbed. Occasional light foxing; otherwise a clean, tight copy, requiring re-binding, and priced accordingly. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
