Set of seven, copper-engraved plates from Encyclopédie, ou dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers, par une société de gens de lettres. Subject matter depicts hand crafting of fireworks and details of contemporary display fireworks. Rockets, vertical and horizontal wheels feature prominently. Publication date is ca. 1772. Image area of each print approximately 8.24 x 13.5 inches. Paper is high quality rag, typical of the period -- no embrittlement, very suitable for framing. Images depict five of the seven plates.
