Collection of Letters, Notes & Greeting Cards Signed By Radio & Media Pioneer Norman Corwin with Several Books Inscribed Norman Corwin (1910-2011) American writer, screenwriter, producer, essayist and teacher of journalism and writing, writing to colleague and dear friend Robert S. Greene (1922-2013) writer, New Orleans jazz musician, documentarian, and historian and teacher who wrote one of the earliest books on scriptwriting for television and taught the subject at Columbia; Collection including fourteen letters, most having their mailing envelopes: 12/23/79 typed letter signed on his letterhead notepaper thanking for ".your generous letter.You are inordinately modest when you raise the question of whether your thesis is "worth the reading." Take back them words. It is not only worth the reading, but the best written, by a good margin, of the dozen or so theses (all of them respectable, mind you) which have either been about me, or involved me. So clean and clear is your writing that I wondered about the power of the magnet that drew you away from words, to music.if ever i saw a man marked out to be a writer on the basis of a single piece of writing, it is you. (no mailing envelope) 12/20/93 TLS holiday and travel greetings 6/3/95 regarding Corwin's Note of Triumph and an enclosed article by John McDonough from the WSJ 9/3/96 TLS regarding new programs, friends, travel & proposed visit and a copy of an LA Times article on Corwin's "No Love Lost" 11/10/99 TLS, enclosing a copy of a letter from Robert Nathan to Corwin which had "brought tears to my eyes" and a copy of a radio station dedication by Corwin 10/26/2008 short TLS greetings and invitation to visit (no mailer), and five seasonal greeting cards with personal well-wishes, handwritten, with bits of news & chat and signed by Corwin; some wear and soiling to envelopes, contents in very good condition A 30-minute cassette tape recording Norman Corwin's "Memos to a New Millenium" (unplayed; appears to be in good condition) Books: Dec. 1943 Thirteen by Corwin inscribed "For Bob - the auldest and dearest of auld lang syne - with boundless esteem and affection Norman."; 1944 More by Corwin; 1945 On a Note of Triumph by Corwin; 1978 Holes in Stained Glass Window, inscribed "For Bob Greene, who sees through a glass clearly, all the best - Norman Corwin 5 20 81"; 1985 13 for Corwin inscribed "to Bob This is about me, not by me.
