AUTHOR'S FIRST 8 NOVELS, ALL 1st EDITIONS -- When the Lion Feeds, (SIGNED) The Dark of the Sun, The Sound of Thunder, Shout at the Devil, Gold Mine, The Diamond Hunters, The Sunbird, Eagle in the Sky
William Heinemann - This is a listing for a VERY RARE lot of Wilbur Smith's first 8 novels, all 1st British editions. I can send more photos if need be. 1) WHEN THE LION FEEDS - published in 1964 by William Heinemann, first British edition, reprinted before publication; book is in very good condition, the book boards are quite clean, small mild soil spot to rear board; 3 words in ink to ffep; the dust jacket is an original ORIGINAL DJ CIRCA 1972 with "Heinemann Group £2.90 net" above the price-clipping of the original price 2) DARK OF THE SUN - published in 1965 by William Heinemann, first British edition, 1st printing; book is in nearly fine condition, and foxing is present to page edges when book closed; book boards nice and clean, sharp corners; it seems this book was little used; price-clipped original DJ is as pictured; SIGNED bookplate on ffep hiding former owner inscription, ffep has been clipped 3) THE SOUND OF THUNDER - published in 1966 by William Heinemann, first British edition, 1st printing; the book boards are mildly soiled and show signs of being handled; faint tape ghost marks to ffep and rfep; bookplate to front paste-down (Johannesburg, South Africa); interior pages are very clean and nice, creamy white; the dust jacket is as pictured; rear flap of DJ is a little more than half way torn along the fold-line; DJ not price-clipped and with "Add 20c for price in South Africa" faintly printed next to original price 4) SHOUT AT THE DEVIL - published in 1968 by William Heinemann, first British edition, 1st printing, book boards nice and clean, sharp corners; it seems this book was little used; slightly canted; pages a bit age-tanned; original DJ is as pictured, with original price; the rear top-left corner of DJ panel is missing, but I supplied a xeroxed portion (not taped to original DJ) to minimize the conspicuousness of the missing piece (see photo); 5) GOLD MINE - published in 1970 by William Heinemann, first British edition, 1st printing, book is nearly fine, interior pages are very clean and nice, creamy white; corners sharp; dedication page excised by publisher, as is usual with the 1st printing of this 1st edition; original DJ is in very good condition, as pictured; not price-clipped 6) THE DIAMOND HUNTERS - published in 1971 by William Heinemann, first British edition, reprinted in 1971; book is in SUPERIOR condition, book boards nice and clean, sharp corners; it seems this book was little or NOT used; ORIGINAL FABULOUS Dust Jacket bears original price; 7) THE SUNBIRD - published in 1972 by William Heinemann, first British edition, 1st printing; book is in excellent condition, except for spine crease to lower third of spine, still tight and very clean; book boards nice and clean, sharp corners; it seems this book was little used; original DJ is as pictured, with former owner using black ink to mask some of the wear to the DJ edges 8) EAGLE IN THE SKY - published in 1979 by William Heinemann, first British edition (1st printing was 1974); book is in nice condition; book boards nice and clean, sharp corners; it seems this book was little used; original DJ with wear and original £5.50 price [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
