Lucy Gayheart. With the salesman's sample copy.
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1935 - 2 volumes, octavo. Original green cloth, printed paper labels to spines and front boards in black and orange, top edges orange. With the dust jackets designed by Rudolph Rudicka. Bookplate to front pastedown. Spine a little faded, board edges lightly toned. An excellent copy in the price-clipped jacket, that has shallow chip to head of rear flap, and extremities slightly rubbed and with a few nicks. First edition, first impression, together with the salesman's sample copy. This dummy copy has an ownership signature to the front pastedown, and the first few pages have been used by the owner, Vera Boicourt, to write out favourite passages from Anna Karenina and Lucy Gayheart.
