Totalling over 2,500 pages, with 10 plates, numerous maps, charts & diagrams (35 folding, several coloured), facsimiles (2 folding), errata slips (Volumes I & IV), appendices, indices; all med. 8vo; navy cloth, spines lettered in gilt, the upper board of Volumes I, II & IV lettered and ruled in blind, boards slightly rubbed or flecked most volumes, edges a trifle rubbed, a couple of corners bruised; dust wrapper to Volume IV only, slightly soiled and foxed, with bookseller's sticker on backstrip and front panel, edges lightly rubbed and split, the backstrip browned; Volume III (both parts) with inked ownership inscription on upper pastedowns and several scattered ownership stamps, the free endpapers of Part II tape-marked, bookseller's sticker at foot of upper pastedown Volume IV, a little foxing throughout (mainly to edges), most of the endpapers lightly offset, occasional slight soiling; Australasian Publishing Company, Sydney, [Volumes I & II],Thornton Butterworth, London [Volumes III & IV]/Macmillan, London [Volume V], 1927-1941. Mixed set: Volumes I & II being the only Australian issues [undated, but both 1923]: Volume III (Parts I & II): First U.K. editions, second impressions; Volume IV: First U.K. edition, second state; Volume V: Macmillan issue, only printing.
