- London: John Murray, 1889. 8vo. (7.6" x 5.25"). [1] + Frontispiece + x + 519pp + [4pp adv.] Half title page not issued. Portrait frontispiece of Charles Darwin's with facsimile signature. Includes a preface by Down, Bromley and Kent dated June, 1845. Postscript is dated Feb. 1st, 1860, wherein Darwin corrects certain errors. Text illustrations. Original green cloth with gilt image of a horseman chasing an ostrich on the front cover. The blind stamp of bookseller "W.H. Smith & Son London" on the front free end paper. Pages very clean, covers unusually bright and very good or better overall. Just the slightest scuffing to edges of spine. A little spotting to front blank leaves. Appears to be an unread copy. The best copy we have seen of this early reprint [Attributes: Hard Cover]
