CHÉRI
New York: Albert & Charles Boni, 1929. First American Edition. First Printing. Octavo; pale gray cloth, with titling and rule stamped in maroon on spine and front panel; maroon topstain; dustjacket; 227pp; illus. Scattered foxing to upper board edges, else very Near Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket, unclipped, with some light wear to corners and spine ends, and a tiny nick at base of lower front joint. A classic of belle époque literature, and the nicest jacketed copy we?'ve seen. Illustrated throughout with ten black and white plates by Herman Post, who also designed the dustjacket. Memorably filmed twice; the 1950 film directed by Pierre Billon, and the 2009 Stephen Frears film starring Michell Pfeiffer and Rupert Friend
