Octavo, pp. [1-6] 7-335 [336: blank] + [20]-page publisher's catalogue dated "Autumn 1928" inserted at rear, original light blue-green cloth, front and spine panels stamped in black, top edge stained green, bottom edge untrimmed. First edition. The fourth of the five books by Shiel containing his major short stories. Bleiler (1978), p. 179. Hubin (1994), p. 737. Morse, The Works of M. P. Shiel Updated (1980), p. 202. Spine panel sunned, a tight, clean, very good copy in very good 7/6 four-color pictorial dust jacket (with illustration by M. Crichton) which was sectioned and mounted on the endpapers and which has been carefully detached and reassembled on plain paper as originally configured. There was only one printing of this book and it has not been published in the U.S. The jacket is rarely encountered. (#152519)
