Original graphite sketch of rowing regatta on the Yarra, with foreground detail of a maiden resting beneath a tree
Melbourne: circa, 1845. Original graphite drawing measuring 225 x 280 mm., with an incomplete sketch to the verso of the sheet, well preserved and mounted. With a letter of authenticity and provenance on the back from the great grandson of Lt Forrest. Forrest was the first resident and buyer of Crown Lands in Prahan, in 1841 he built a residences upon Forrest Hill beside the Yarra river called 'Waterloo Cottage' and was a trained amateur artist.
