Tokyo, Japan: Gakken, 1979. Slipcased. VG+ (Beautiful condition, possibly never read; only flaw is light rubbing to corner of velveteen.. Both volumes: Tan paper with green decoration/boards; maroon leather spine with gilt titling; La plante . . . 213 pp. with 2 gatefolds and 144 color plates; Les fleurs . . . 93 pp. with 2 gatefolds and 60 color plates. Both volumes houses together in board slipcase covered in red velveteen cloth (top/bottom ends) and color-illus. paper. Slipcase spine lettering in both Japanese and French. Oversized and heavy (9 pounds) and will require extra postage. Text mostly in Japanese and French, though plate captions are provided in French, English, and Japanese. Beautiful full-page reproductions of pochoir illustrations of plants and flowers in their natural state, as well as in decorative designs for wall coverings, fabrics, etc. Oversized. Both Grasset and Sequy were leaders in the Art Nouveau movement, and both were influenced by Japanese design.
