Contemporary calf, spine gilt, and marbled endpapers. Minor chipping to spine ends and rubbing to joints and edges, otherwise a fine and pretty copy. A history of dance, describing its development from ancient civilizations to Louis XIV and the establishment of French opera. "One of the most important histories of the danse, quoted by Noverre and many danse histories" (Derra de Moroda 515). Tipped to the front pastedown is a manuscript note in ink providing biographical information on Cahusac.
