Tikuney Hazohar tikunei HaZohar
Meir ben Ephraim of Padua & Jakob ben Naphtali Hakohen of Gazolo, Mantua 1558 - Complete, 152 leaves. OCLC: Libraries worldwide that own item: 3: New leather binding. Tikkunei Hazohar was designed to expound 70 novellae, each beginning with a new interpretation of the word Bereishit, conforming to the Seventy Aspects of the Torah. The expositions in the book digress widely and deal with topics not included in the main body of the Zohar, for example, the mysteries of the vowel point and accents and the esoteric wisdom underlying prayer and Halacha. Two widely divergent textual arrangements are found in manuscripts, which are reflected in turn in the present edition and the later, Orta Koj edition. It is a custom among many communities to daily study portions of this work especially during the month of Elul leading up to the High Holy Days. Previous owner write his name on the title page to margin: Yehoshua Shmuel HaLevi. Inscriptions on last leaf. On recto is the inscription of the censor. The initial draft translation of the Hebrew that appears on the last page is: Today, Friday the 29th of Elul, [5]407 [= September 29, 1647] I borrowed based on this book, from the prominent Mr. Shlomo [?] in order to study it [?] Will return ?? [?] I will be required to return the book to him [?] In proof therefore I have signed Shmuel [?], the above mentioned Yehoshua, the righteous man of blessed memory. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
