Replete with article, excerpts, poetry, topics of the day. Volume XXIX contains several early excerpts from Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". The editor of the magazine had hoped to publish the entire novel serially but Twain was not receptive. The excerpts contain E.W. Kemble's illustrations. Also an article by Theodore Roosevelt, "Still-Hunting the Grizzly". Articles on Civil War battles and leaders, an interview with General Robert E. Lee, among many other "goodies".
