A New System of Domestic Cookery, formed upon Principles of Economy, and adapted to the Use of Private Families. By a Lady.
- Boston: William Andrews, 1807. 12mo, pp. [6], xx, 296, [2] ads. Original half red roan over marbled boards; a bit worn and rubbed at extremities, front hinge loose but holding, pp. 269-270 with long tear into text but no loss, bookplate removed from front free endpaper, endpapers browned. First American edition with (apparently) no changes made for the American audience from the British prior edition. It was to be reprinted in eleven separate American editions with the title "The American Domestic Cookery" and "The Experienced American Housekeeper". Although almost entirely a home cookbook, there are sections on feeding the sick and the poor, and managing domestic servants. Shaw & Shoemaker 13528; Bitting, p. 410 (many editions but not this one). [Attributes: Hard Cover]
